was it Band of Brothers by S Ambrose (good book) or Beyond Band of Brothers co-written by Dick Winters ? which I haven't read yet

it was beyond,......yes it is carer,.great book ,...had to read it again so good ,.............may just take it on my flight over in april,..........my sons reading it now ,.......a def. pick up,..............

,.yes they did ,.good too,.....jaws was a movie too and the book was better,.....movies are not always what the book is ,....

another book i read was 1 fish 2 fish red fish blue fish,..no movie,........

I've finally got the time to read again. So I picked up the last book I was reading, which is Cutting for Stone. It's set in Ethiopia during the rule of Haile Selassie, who doesn't seem like the super cool dude the Rastas make him out to be.

I tend to read a lot of books about serial killers/psychopaths/sociopaths/crime etc have an interest in criminal psychology....not just a nut!

Did read 13 1/2 lives of captain bluebear which was awesome!

Currently reading something new for me after my boyfriend badgeredmefor a couple of years to try it out. Robin Hobb liveship trilogy

It started off very good, it does lose a bit of steam in the middle, but its ramping up again

During my 'enforced' time off from having a wee smoke, which usually means being able to read and retain the written word!!! ..... I managed to get through and really enjoy a few books over the last few weeks...

I read the firm favourite of the forum "Mr Nice", by "Howard Marks" and although at first I thought, I'm not getting into this at all, it grew on me and it got to the stage I'd glance at the clock and find it was 3am in the morning!! So much for I'll read for an hour before catching some ZZZZZZZZ.....!
Also re-read "A Tale of Two Cities", by good old "Charlie Dickens". An excellent read and one I'd recommend to anyone.(As was "Great Expectations" which was the 2nd book encluded in this large volume, for the price of half a pint of beer!!, from the 'book man' who'd turn up and leave all sorts to catch your attention, at my former employers)
For anyone who might think, "Naw, fuck that. They made us read that in school and I couldn't be having that stopping and starting, drawing out sentences that last for half a page...", man o' man stick with it and reap the rewards. Once you get into the rhythm of it, it's a fantastic read and 200 million copies sold says it all.
For me it's a case of Please Sir, I want some more!!!

Hey "Cisco"!! Glad you're enjoying the "Stuart MacBride" books!! My pal "Helen" who buys the books then passes them down the line for the rest of us to read!! has the latest one that's just come out, but before that gets to me I read "Blind Eye" and "Dark Blood" in the series and was delighted with both. They are just so entertaining and for any of the forum members who like the likes of "Rebus" as you mentioned, i'm sure they'd enjoy these gritty stories, and cracking characters! DI "Steel" should get a book all to herself.
I keep thinking I'll see the books turned into a TV dramas, but then I think they'd ruin the stories trying to make them fit for broadcast!!!
If this stokes anyone to give these books a go, I really would advise to read the books in the order they were published as you'll get a better appreciation of the characters and how they develop, but the stories do stand alone if you just find one and fancy a rollercoaster of a ride.
Come on "Cattales1960" and "geoffk"!! Give one a go! I'd love to know what those of you across the pond make of the "Aberdeen" that "Stuart MacBride" gives you, than the "Trump" golfing experience he's hoping for!!

Been working my way through Mark Radcliffe's series of loose biographies, nice easy reading to while away the hours - now where did I put that shirehorses cd?

Now listening to 'The Hunger Games' audiobook, i have passed this by for a while due to it being marketed as a book for 'young adults' but the hype got to me so have decided to give it a whirl, so far so good!

have just finished 'york and lancaster' by alison weir. an excellent, very detailed and somewhat dry history of the wars of the roses.

having read quite a few history books in a row, now im starting on 'the god delusion' by richard dawkins, for a change in direction.
