Pounds 2 Euros
Pounds 2 Euros
Hi Anyone, Traveling to dam 2 weeks and would like to know Whats the best thing to do in regards to exchanging pounds to euro. I dont know should I change my money before I get there or when I get there, I also want to know where to get the best exchange rates.
All I want is some proper food!
I could give you todays rate, but as they are constantly changing, I'll use a tech support favourite; "RTFM".
FM can be found at the following site, which will compare the rates of some major UK exchangers. A tip I was given, is to order online from Travelex, and then have them pricematch the best place. You;ll have to pay the advertised rate, and then write in for the refund.

Nationwide however offer the best service, with their fee free cash withdrawals all over Europe, at around the VISA (interbank/best) rate. This is what I use, and it seems great, with the money still in pounds if you haven't taken it all out whilst away! (Last time I had £1.89 left )
This was all true of about 6 months ago, so unless anythings changed then it should all be good. May not be so helpful to anyone from out of the UK

With Boner on this one. I get some Euros in advance from the Post Office, usually the best rate around and then use my Nationwide debit card for any extras as it's free withdrawal from ATM's.Boner wrote:Exactly the same rate as the Post Office.
The way things are going the exchange rate will be irrelevant as there'll be parity between the euro and the pound
Hasta la Victoria Siempre
Quote from crown currency website,
'If you are travelling abroad either this year or next you can pre-order your foreign currency and benefit from an excellent rate of exchange. With any amount from £300 to £10,000 you can choose between cash and travellers cheques or a combination of both.'
Not everyone's cup of tea, as you order and pay for your currency at the point of order, for delivery at a date in the future. If you're the 'plan ahead' type of person, it's worth having a look. I've used them many times.

Bit risky pre ordering with the current credit crunch dont you think. you know if the place goes under and takes your holiday spends with you then what.rks0 wrote: Not everyone's cup of tea, as you order and pay for your currency at the point of order, for delivery at a date in the future. Better of just getting what you need before you go (IMO)
