November 13-November 17 Trip Report: Day 4 Last day (pics)

Day 4 Nov 16

This is it, last day. Will definitely make the most of it. Had originally thought about going to Rotterdam for a few hours today, to take pictures of some modern architecture, a hobby of mine, but I needed more sun than I thought I was going to get on this day. Plus I had planned to meet a member from here, puffpuffgive, at 1700, so I would be staying in town.

Over to the Dampkring for my last morning ritual of the trip. Having tried all thier top Hazes, and wanting something different, I went with a fav from a few years ago, the Oceans 12 Haze, which was great and exactly like a remembered it. Some Nepalese Pollen went with it perfectly.

The shop really started to fill up so I said goodbye to the nice people of the Dampkring for this year, and headed out for a nice sunday morning walk. At this point I had plenty of rolled joints in my pocket and probably more hash than I would need for the rest of my trip. I wouldnt be making any more purchases til my meet later.

On my walk around the city I started noticing alot of little kids with similar costumes on, some of which were in black face paint. Odd. Then seeing traffic barriers up all over and many, many more people in these outfits, I figured there must be some kind of parade/celebration. I had never been here this late in November, so I had never seen it before. Asking a few people, I put together that this was the parade to mark the begining of Christmas season, it brought Sinterklass to town for the kids. Now the blackface people, I think I got this, are the 'Black Peters' that take away the bad kids, according to the story I guess. Anyway, there was a big boat parade, then street parade all through the city, ending on Leidseplein. It all looked like lots of fun, the kids all go crazy for the Black Peters, who hand out candy and cookies. What made the whole scene even more enjoyable for me was the thought of something like that going on at home here in the US. Hundreds of white people running around with black face paint on? My god the uproar that would cause here. Got to love the Dutch!

More wanderings and picture taking got me to the late afternoon and time to head over to Hill Street Blues on Warmoestraat to meet puffpuffgive. Hoping this meet would work out better than the last I sat and had some coffee to wait. As I was rolling my first joint of Super Silver Haze after heading to the back, he came over and introduced himself, and we sat down to some heavy smoking. When he pulled his gear from his pocket, I could tell he was a hardcore smoker like me. We talked, shared stories and info, and hit it off I think. A real good guy. Another joint, a Bubblegum purchase and we moved to the couches for some hash sharing and more joints. He got a kick out of my small Bambu rolling papers and had me roll him a few joints with them. I definitely had a good time. After spending a couple of hours together I needed to be on my way. It was too bad tonight was my last night, because I would have made plans with him for the trip to Haarlem on monday for the meet and greet.

With 2 joints back in my room, one for when I got back and one for the morning, I still had alot of stuff in my pocket to smoke, and I still wanted to make one last stop at the Greenhouse for a final purchase later. I walked and smoked, and smoked and walked. Needed to stop, so into the Rokerij for some Northern Lights. Almost put my lights out right there, but I moved on to the Greenhouse and a last purchase of some Strawberry Haze. Rolled it all, smoked it all, and reflected on a great trip.

My camera is a Canon SD1100is 8mp. Its a tiny little thing. I put it in a case attached to my belt and hardly know its there, so I take it everywhere. Thanks.

Hey man, was great to meet up! I had an awesome time smoking up and sharing stories, and Hill St Blues is a cool place too.

Glad you decided to write a trip report. My evening got kind of crazy after you left. It'll be a couple of days 'til i've written it up but details will follow eventually in my trip report!
