Cheap travel from the uk

Post by nehctik »

Anyone ever find cheaper flights or travel to amsterdam from england preferably from london stansted

For example
06.03.09 London stansted to Amsterdam (AMS)
08.03.09 Amsterdam (AMS) to London stansted
Easy jet £69.58

I've never found anything to beat easy jet

So if anyone knows of something please add to this thread

Ryanair have sales every so often, I was reading someone paid £8 for rtn flights recently, not sure where from but it was a London airport.

Edit: Just seen the thread it was on: http://forum.channels.nl/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=32122 Stanstead to Eindhoven.

Ryan air can do flights for about £11 return to Eindhoven but the taxes take it up to £66.83 then bus or train to amsterdam from Eindhoven so it'll work out to about the same, thanks for the effort anyway though

the era of cheap flights is over, my flights for my trip next week cost 130 return.

of which 100 pounds is tax and fuel surcharge

the actual ticket is only around 20 pound

so even the ticket was free, you would have to pay around 60-70 in taxes.

Cheap flights are a thing of the past now, the only way i have
found to get cheap flights is to book way in advance, last min
flights are no longer worth it, the airlines know people will pay
the higher rate if they really want to fly so have no need to drop
the air fare, also, the more people just pay the fare and fly the less
chance we have of getting cheap flights again.

Peace

you lot got ripped - I paid 2p return with ryanair for my trip to eindhoven in january, With taxes!!

You'll need to apply to either Abbey or Halifax to get a visa electron card, and that wipes the card fees (£8 return) from ryanair and easyjet, which will have been how you got the £8.02 return tickets

the post office does prepay visa electron cards subject to a minimum topup of 50pound, plus a transaction fee, not sure bout how good these cards are but it would save you 8pound on all ryanair bookings, and also allow you to buy ryanair flights that dont start in the uk
dam aint the only place in nl

I always travel with Easy Jet, tickets normally around £70 with insurance but without hold baggage (which is an extra £12 per person). I recently went on the 19th of Jan and the flights were£74. When i got home i booked my next trip which will be on Sunday 8th Feb and the flight were only £62. All prices are with taxes.

I've looked on Ryanair and sometimes they have tax free flights which go to Eindhoven which are £15 each way. But im sure u will have 2 pay tax on the outbound flight regardless. but anything between £60 and £80 seems about right

The last flight I booked with BmiBaby cost me £39.98 inc taxes - £1.04 each way for the flights alone!

This is for an early (06.45) May 12th flight out, coming back in the evening on the 15th.

Two weeks earlier they had another sale on, but the same flights would have cost me about £60!

Most of the budget airlines have these mad sales to clear out the remaining seats if sales have been slow - and with the economic climate the way it's been, you can see why a lot of people are having to cut back on such things...

If you're flexible in your travel dates then some real bargains can be found!

Whenever possible, I try to fly midweek as the flights and hotels can work out a bit cheaper, and for me personally, I enjoy Amsterdam when it's a little quieter, rather than the full-on weekend rush - too many stag/hen weekends and assorted idiots careering around town!

Booking well in advance will always get you a cheaper price, i just book 2 months earlier and got the flight/tax's all for £57.35, the same flights now will set you back £130.00 return, a whopping £72 increase.

I think the airlines have a set amount seat's say like 10 which they can afford to charge no price, when they are filled the price increases and this is how they make their money.

Book well in advance!

I fly out from Birmingham... the really weird thing is, when I checked the flights the other day, they had gone up tp £103, but have now gone back down to £84 for the exact same dates...

All this yo-yoing is beyond me... sometimes if you wait too long, you lose that magical sale price deal, but if you strike too soon, you might not get the best discounts. There doesn't seem to be a lot of sense to it, but I reckon that anything under £70 isn't a bad deal these days - I guess I was lucky to get my flights so cheap...
