Had to say it..My wife and I will be travelling to Europe mid next year - my first time to Europe (I'm 33 years old - shameful I know). I have always yearned to experience the 'alternative culture' of Amsterdam. I'm not interested in being a 'typical tourist' that seems to be reported in the media as a general nuisance in Amsterdam - I am rather more interested in really experiencing the roads less travelled - meeting interesting people and enjoying fine company
I am concerned however that the 'alternative culture' of Amsterdam is under threat by conservative politicians and hooligan tourists? I am hoping that the 'culture' will still be very much alive by the time I can get there in mid-2009?
So between now and then I would like to start meeting interesting people who we / I can possibly meet when we get to Amsterdam next year.
