SS67 is a bully??? I've heard it all now.Image
Seem to remember ages ago it was suggested to you to maybe replace the word "drugs" with "weed/pot/hasj/bud etc.", what happened there? Would you describe an off-license as "displaying all their drugs in bottles and cans around the shop?"
You seem like an amiable guy Oranje, so I had a look at yer site and it ranked a Bulldog in the top 3 and suggested Free Adam was a better shop than Dampkring???????????
There was this too..
Quote on review of Amnesia.."Situated next door to one of the famous red light district streets, this was the perfect area to be amused while sitting around watching the clients go in and out very quickly"
Only a few windows in this general area, you sure you were in Amnesia?
Fair play for getting a site going, you get marks for trying. I'm sure you'd rather have a thumbs up from the members of ACD though, yes?
Here's a thought...
Go in to a shop, buy some weed, consume it using your method of choice. Rate the shop on the basis of price/quality of said weed. Job done. If anything else is worth pointing out, fine, do so, but don't rate them on it. You do understand that view, seating, toilets, entertainment etc etc. are less important than those two factors above (in bold) are, yeah? Please don't come back with "people want a balanced view of the c/s" or "we decided to give a thorough review based on everything".
More time spent enjoying the produce and less time farting around under the sink looking for a leak may enlighten you and yer buddies, and one of you might realise that a Bulldog probably shouldn't be ranked 20 places higher than, say Amnesia or HGF. Jus' saying..
Peace. AP.

This was one of my favourite CS on my last visit. Great budtender and nice staff. Big comfy seats and your able to purchase half grams which IMO was a great way to sample their menu

Oranje when you come here posting, coffeeshop reviews mostly based on decor and other crap like that you're bound to get flak for it. ACD always was and will always be about quality and service. No need for people pushing their sites down users throats or plugging recently renovated coffeshops.

C'mon guys, give Oranje a break. He's clearly making an effort to do something he thinks is cool. He's new here, and doesn't really understand the etiquette yet, but he seems to be making an effort. Full points to him for that.

I've been to his site, and can verify that his site has no ads or obvious malware. It seems to be a labor of love. FWIW, I don't see it as competing with ACD, but as complimentary to it, targeting a different audience. ACD is very useful for the experienced smoker who's looking for the best Amsterdam has to offer. Oranje's site seems more useful the casual or former smoker who'll probably only visit one or two coffeeshops while in Amsterdam, and smoke a single joint in each. People like my stepfather, or my uncles, for example. To that audience, entertainment, bathrooms, food quality, etc, are as, if not more important than the size of the menu, or the strength of the products on offer.

As for me, I've been going to Amsterdam on and off since 1998. Good luck with the site, but ACD's more useful for me.

All that said: Oranje, please stop referring to cannabis as drugs. Seriously. It's important. We do not discuss drugs on this forum. People have very strong feelings about this.

Hardly, but I do agree about people giving him a break, he's been told by more than enough people.

The sudden influx of reviews that were a bit dubious in my opinion triggered my alarm bells and I stated it. Now if subsequent reviews focus more on the quality of the herb (not drug!) and the budtender, perhaps showing some bud porn, I don't think there will be any adverse reactions. On a side note very nice signature boner I laughed my ass off!!

I didn't give him a hard time, i think he's ok. I felt my criticisms were constructive and would improve his input to this forum..no malice intended. The "drugs" thing has me scratching my head though tbf.

I've never known a smoker yet who refers to it that way, have you? Non-smokers use it all the time, so to see someone go to the effort MO has gone to, in presenting a decent looking site, while using terminology more associated with non-smokers seems odd. Hence the head-scratching remark.

my view is that all cannabis is a drug, but not all drugs are cannabis

i will say i smoke weed or hash

i will not say i do drugs

the second suggests that i may be doing heroin or cocaine or uppers or downers or some such

but i don't

i only smoke weed or hash

Panog, for english speakers, "drug" carries a negative connotation, and also is usually used to refer to "hard" drugs like heroine, cocaine, meth, etc. We potheads like to think of ourselves as a different class of user...but indeed, by most techinical definitions pot is indeed a drug.

geekymonkey, you are right, but you refer to the use of the word in UK English. Surely a 'drugstore' as referred to in US English is merely another word for a chemist or pharmacy? I do take your point about the negative connotation of being a drug user however, although there is a medical context in which the word can also be used.

Panog, your English is pretty good by the way, and i agree with you too - most of us on this forum have some sort of dependency on cannabis, so by definition it is a drug, as much as we don't like to admit it.

Stopped by this shop by accident after lunch today.

The wife picked this place as we strolled by so we went in for a coffee and tea. The super friendly bud tender helped us out and we were soon back in their magnificent smoking room. As said before, very comfy and clean!

Their website is live and shows some nice pics of decor and lighting but not much other info.
Have attached a link below as there isn't one on the ACD Directory/Index page. Maybe someone who can do site admin could add it?
