As you are all probably aware, cannabis in the UK is now class B! It will get alittle debate due to goverment ignorance, but as best put here:
Sir Niall of Essex-sire wrote:In England we vote for parties not indivituals. There are oppurtunitys to change this, it wont happen because the smoking community is too reluctent to make any productive steps towards a type of situation in Holland. There were and are loads of groups which are active in trying to change the situation, these groups are in need of support the more they gain the more power there will be to change the situation. We were closer in 60's than we are now.
so i put it to you, what do you think it will take to get a change for the better?

That is the magic question man.

IMO there needs to be a moblization and new found enthuisam amoungst those in the stoner community to 1) write to MP's. 2) Encourage the LCA to stand again for elections. 3) increase attendence and frequency of legalise cannabis protests, a monthly sit in in Hyde Park and parks up and down the country on 4:20 on a saturday? 4) Start mainstream publishcations and information countering the skunk scare tatics. 5) Participate in the drop a seed campaign and 6) use media sources sympathetic to cannabis more effectivly and more frequently.

i personally condone the drop a seed method as it only highlights how business can grow and the common joe can't the middle of roundabouts is an old favourite or outside courthouses/govt buildings

This would be a good place to begin to get something organised, but it would take a lot of organising to get it out, but with the likes of Facebook and myspace, the ideas could be spread very quickly.

Unfortunately not much I can do as I am leaving, but I can still contribute through myspace and facebook, also have contact with a large number of sound systems, so could stir up interest through that in the UK if you guys could get something organised.

-----EDIT-----

Just thought, the Americans already have 4.20, why can't that be pushed in the UK? Why can't we make 4.20 synonomous (sic) with smoking in the UK too?

Why don't you start a grassroots (pardon the pun) type of thing.

That is, for each riding, go to the Labour (or a other party candidate that might be a non-prohibitionist) and get their view on Cannabis.

Tell them that you will only support candidates who are non-prohibitionist.

If they claim to be non-prohibitionist, get this on the record. (If they ever back away, then you could expose thme for being hypocrits).

If they are prohibitionist, then tell them that you won't be voting for them!!!

I think there could be some mileage in leaving truthful cannabis literature in various public places Let's face it, most of the 'knowledge' straights have about drugs is patchy at best.

Your opinions may vary about the film, but I'm tempted to make a few copies of 'super high me' to leave in a some prominent locations.
Leave one on a train and somebody will think it has come straight from the government!

Move to Wales, vote Plaid Cymru, and then invade the rest of the UK.

Does that mean there would be mandatory Choir practice and Rugby training for men? As well as an increase in in-apporiate relationships with sheep? Cos im not really down with that!

Sorry man only joking, i like Wales and the Welsh people. I in fact bought my best ever Chip Butty in Swansea........good times.

IMO, this type of thing would NOT work in a large way.
You might be able to convince one or two people, but that is about it.

REASON: Have you seen all the crap pamphlets those religious folks leave around? If this type of thing worked we'd all be religious looneytunes! :D

On the other hand, a guy like Howard Marks would make a good spokeman, because he is intelligent and articulate. If we could get more people like him speaking out on the issue, then it might have some kind of momentum. Indeed, bring someone like him to candidate debates, and then determine which party's candidate is worthy of your vote.

For me, the interesting thing to note is the role of the media in this latest fiasco. In the 1930's, USA, Hearst used his papers to vilify grass (and setup the "reefer madness" scare) and this time around, in the UK, it was the tabloid press. (Oh well, La plus ca change, la plus c'est le meme chose.)
