"Can cannabis cause schizophrenia?
Is it addictive?
or Is it an undervalued medicine ?

Dr John Marsden discovers that science is finally beginning to find answers to these questions "

Its on BBC2 tonight at 21.00.
Might be interesting...

Always good to see cannabis related progs on TV. After reading a couple BBC news articles on cannabis it will be good to see what B.S. is being pumped out to the nation tonight.

early reviews are that hardened ?(regular maybe) smokers may not like it... so I'm guessing a fair bit of negative press

for me I'm not argueing thats its "not" harmful just that its a LOT less harmful than other legal drugs....

but given the putarian nature of todays world (thanks bush!) no one is going to be saying too many positive things about the 'ole herb

Smoking when you're young in some cases can fuk you up, a point from the show well proved here.

Apart from very lose sentence constructing when trying to connect things. "In very rare occassions it can be said that this result reinforces the idea of a connection between blah blah" I thought it was decent enough program, coming to the right conclusion at the end. That apathy is the biggest downside to weed.

Damn I missed the prog, for anyone who would like to do a short summary, please fill me in? :)
That apathy is the biggest downside to weed.

Do they mean that weed prevents empathy?

As for fuking up young people, I've seen it happen to a small percentage of early starters, 1, maybe 2%, but there were many other drugs involved too. I've only met a few early starters who only did weed and booze, and these few are all fine studying for degrees. I suspect that early starters who just stick to weed and booze will not suffer from psychological problems.

I'm intrigued to know what lies were told to the public on this programme!

Definitely a Boratesque 'I like' went through my mind!
I thought the program was balanced.
FYI, the presenter, Dr John Marsden, is a lecturer in Addiction Studies, and interestingly, he is a member of the UK Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs. It was AGAINST the advice of this body, that the UK government regraded cannabis.
The company is called GW Pharmaceuticals, and are currently in phase 2/3 (three is the final phase before they can apply for a licence) of trials for their products. Any gamblers amongst us might want to buy some shares in them.
And yes, that was alot of ganja!

Cheers Ash! I just finished watching it, and agree with other comments that a fairly un-biased perspective was placed on weed. I think the apathy argument is more likely related to the type of person smoking weed, not the weed itself. I know plenty of tokers who get on with their lives.

I felt sorry for the rats.
Living their lives in a lab so some idiot can get funding to see if they can show whether cannabis is a 'gateway drug' or not.

What a waste of time and money.

Nice to see the GW Pharma boys and girls have learned to grow properly. The last time I saw their herbs it looked like they could have used some help.

I only saw a few minutes on youtube, but he fits the category of people who would have ended this anyway, with or without drugs. if it wasnt drugs it would have been World of Warcraft or something else you can hide your laziness with ;)

You can also torrent download it for those not in the UK. The iplayer only works there as you may know.
