Bicycles - Good idea or not?

Post by lampshade »

I noticed someone mentioned that cycling from coffeeshop to coffeeshop is a good idea?

I'm a big fan of cycling just make sure the bike isn't too big for you that isn't fun.

I don't think I'd go and not rent a bike anymore. It's just part of the package. Most efficient way to get around.

Biking is just the BEST WAY to move around the Dam.

It's so good to know that you're able to go anywhere you like, whenever you want to and not having to wait and pay for any other mean of transportation. And it's just awesome to ride a bike when you're high/stoned, feeling the wind against your face...

Some say that it's dangerous... well, on my first time ever there the first thing i did was to rent a bike. I knew almost nothing about the city... the tram lines, the cycle lanes, and so on, but never had a problem.

Don't let other people scare you... it's no big deal. If you want to have fun and to save some money go for it.

It goes like this:

1. Apartment Check-in.
2. La Tertulia, get buzz on.
3. BikeCity.nl and pickup wheels for the duration.

I've never had a problem with the Trams, I did nearly (very close) get hit by a motorbike once but that was totally my fault.

It's those scooters (mopeds) that spook me. They drive on the bike paths, especially when you are out of town.

i saw a kid (16 years or so) drive his bike directly into an oncoming vehicle right in front of barney's down on haarlemmerstraat last time i was in town.

his handle bars were all bent up but otherwise he was okay. the lady popped out of the car and asked the kid if he was okay while the kid simply straightened his handle bars back around. they shook hands and both were on their way... :D

i do not believe that would have been the ending result here in the states

Are there places that rent anything other than those bright red or yellow boneshakers?

Actually those bikes are pretty damn comfy. But yes you can rent some that won't stick out so much. I think I compiled a list of links on this site at one time.

I highly recommend Bike City for a plain, black bike.
