If it's your first time cycling around a: Amsterdam b: a busy city centre I'd suggest that they get a typical tourist bike at least that way other people know you're not used to it.
Do you know, i never thought of it that way round before...

I am haunted by the mental image of this poor gal, moved to tears by frustrated amsterdamers, who were simply pissed off with yet another hapless stoner tourist who was blocking their way.

Thinking about it… I may get myself a t-shirt for my next trip, “OK, OK, I’m stoned…

Yeah my wife has this habit of just stopping dead without looking behind her or pulling over to the side, she's annoyed more than 1 local with her lack of bicycle skills.

i do recomend bikes for various reasons jsut make sure you get the old dutch style ones the kind where they qare heavy as a m*therf*cker and you have to back pedal to brake..... we got a bike this year got stoned off our asses then tried to find the way from zeeburg campsite to the zoo and then to the city central damn long distance but greatly healpfull

hahaha, yeah been there done that.

We locked our bikes up on Dam Square and went off to Abraxas, came back and looked everywhere (we'd locked them to a tree) so we walked round & round for ages, just about to give up and there they were right in front of us!
