Ok, I tried to read this entire thread.....

Whoever said the best fried chicken comes from the American South is right on. Too bad they can't use a French chicken, like a poulet de Bresse, its basically like a small turkey in size....

So, did anyone come up with an alternative to KFC in Amsterdam for coated and fried chicken (not roasted, not grilled, etc).

Someone needs to open soul food place in this town!

Harlem Drinks and Soul Food can be found at Haarlemmerstraat 77....

When the three of us are in town all at once come December, First round of drinks are on me!

Also, I would like to establish an "Urban Explorers Guild" where weekly we go on Pub/club/restaurant/CS/concert Crawls...

We all smoke more than enough so the Cs's are given, this will focus more on everything else in which fun could be derived, extracted, etc. ...

Do you two think that this a far-fetched and outlandish concept?

Warm Regards..

No I think it's a great idea. And I've been to Harlem D&SF but I wouldn't call that true Southern Soul Food. Have you been to Roscoe's? It's okay for LA, but can't hold a match to some buttermilk fried chicken. No doubt once we're settled in will Sunday dinner become a ritual at my place.

Peace,
Balou

Here is your soul food:

http://www.urbanspoon.com/r/28/322274/r ... e-St-Louis

Yep, collard greens, mac and cheese, fried chicken, chicken fried steak, fried pork chop, etc.

The menu is a little blurry, but you get the idea.

Two locations, either are superb.

Harlem Soul Food was a TERRIBLE disappointment. I've spent much time in the South, and the food at Harlem Soul Food is about as far from good ole Southern cookin' as one can get so if you're looking for good Southern food you ain't gonna find it there. It's kind of like expecting to find good stroopwafels in the US.

KFC is garbage! Here in the States there are better alternatives like Popeye's. But nothing beats pan fried chicken, if you're from/visited the south you know what I mean.

Peace
