Also, make sure to get your train ticket stamped just before you go down the escalators to the train platform. There are little yellow boxes you just stick your ticket in and pull it out.

Why do you need to get it stamped?
I just get on with the ticket, if the inspector comes, he stamps it for me. Am I supposed to stamp it myself?

I've never got mine stamped. If you're on the trams, you can stamp your tix at the self serve stamper.

You only have to stamp it if you chose open date at the ticket machine. If you chose valid today then it will already be 'stamped' for travel that day.

The travel from the airport to the city was incredibly easy.
Get off the plane,
go through customs,
get your luggage,
go to the train area,
buy a ticket with a credit/debit card or euro's if you got 'em,
look for platform,
go down to train,
conductor comes (or doesn't) stamps your ticket,
20 mins later you're at central station.
Tram it if you want or walk. Tram tickets are available at the little Central Station bookstore. I walked to Central Station from Oudezijds Voorburgwal in 10 minutes.
Oh and the ACD Coffeeshop map was the most useful streetmap I had. Better than the hotel maps and Borch map I bought.
Easy Peasy.
