What dont you like about frites? for me they are loads better than traditional chips even with the mayo, get yourself to Vleminckx down Voetboogstraat, you wont be sorry.

When it comes to food m8 i am the worlds biggest pussy? Just wandering past the places during the day and seeing them piled high on the counter (Part cooked) is enough for me.
I have tried them a few times but when i get a thought in my head its a no go for me.
Look on the bright side plenty more for you guys

So it's a hygiene thing? yet you eat BK!

The reason they part cook them then cook them again is to give them that crispy outside and soft inside.

Edit: Just got one of those failed delivery emails, doesn't look good.
 It dont look like that no more
Although they might have kept the menu similar. I am just not a Vlaamese frites man so did not go in to look.

Was this the only one in Amsterdam? Any1
I remember going in here a year or so back and really enjoying "a taste of home" - the last time I went in, back in Oct 08, I stopped and did a double take. I honestly thought I'd walked into the wrong place in a stoned fog - I backed out of the shop, took a look up and down Nieuwendijk to confirm my bearings, looked back inside at the dirty, grotty inside of the shop and plodded off to KFC instead, absolutely gutted.

I couldn't believe how it had changed from a nice bright inviting chippy into the shit-hole it is now in such a short time. The staff there didn't seem to be particularly inviting either, though that may have been partly due to the fact that I walked in, stopped, and then promptly turned back round again and left...

Good luck to Big Al in his new enterprise - it's a shame no-one else took up the challenge of running a nice, clean, honest-to-goodness "English-style" chip shop in the heart of A'dam. I know there's always plenty of good (and healthy) alternatives to the heart-attack-inducing fish 'n' chips, but sometimes.... you know?

Ahh well...

Its not really the hygiene (Most look clean) its just the sight of them sitting there. Als where part cooked too but where kept out of sight in the second fryer. Out of sight out of mind
Suppose my best bet would be send some1 else to get them whilst i stand around the corner  Sometimes a bit hard when i travel mainly solo

Only eat BK in the Dam as i rarely eat fast food at home
Got a kid and another one on the way so its cooked meals (By myself) all the way.

Like i said b4 i am a pussy when it comes to food

By the way Kermit, I should tell you that KFC is now back open and you can eat in there rather than worrying about BK :)

In a city like A`dam you`ve got stoner chefs all over right?
Most chefs I know smoke weed, plus they`re fucking great workers, when it comes too both hygiene and making practically anything taste awesome...
What puzzles me is that u guys prefer fish n`chips when there is so many options available, don`t get me wrong in this, I love really well made fried foods of all sorts, but why not go for something truly tasty instead?
Proper Italian, Spanish, Portugeese, or maybe some Asian(this waries a whole lot), or maybe some Jamaican? :o I`m from Norway, and the food here isn`t that great if a crap chef have made it, but it`s fuckin` legendary if real hard working proper chefs make it. No wonder a Norwegian topped the "world championship of cooking" again this year. But seriously, eating what you eat on a day to day basis for junk-food when your travelling, takes away half the fun of visiting new countries... At least I, as a trained chef, thinks so, maybe I`ve got a different way of seeing it then you? :o Chefatnet

^^Eat away m8^^
The cost is too much therefor fast food is the only way. I would rather spend the E50-E100 on weed than goto a restraunt for a meal. Afterall i travel coz i am a drug tourist and unlike yourself have no interest in food at all.
Each to there own and all that :D

Kermit theres plenty of places that you can get a good meal for less than €20, De Beiaard on Spui for example is great, I go to an Italian down Westerstraat and have a calzone pizza for less than €10.

x2 people + drinks soon adds up. I have been for many meals in the dam from pizza (WITH MICE RUNNING FREE), Indian, Chinese, and steak. Never cost less than E50 for 2 with one drink each. In fact i could go and eat at Purnells for less than a decent meal for 2 in the Dam.
As i said each to there own m8

Hehehehe....was in Groningen a few weeks ago with my girlfriend - have never tried anything from FEBO before, so she insisted I have one of those croquet things...put my money in the slot stuck my hand in to pull it out and of course touched the side of the compartment. Just about took the skin right off my hand, cue lots of running around, jumping up and down on the spot and screaming of various anglo saxon expletives.... :-)
