minor setback for legal medical usage, but theres hope that this might pass before the summer. i'm very excited.

i could and would get a prescription if medical use was legalized here. i smoke for medical reasons half the time. to fight chronic insomnia and combat the aversion to food caused by not sleeping for extended periods of time. i've gained 10lbs since i started smoking marijuana. my sleep issues became a real issue 7 years ago when i was 15. from the ages of 15-22 i weighed 135, never fluctuating more than 3 lbs in either direction. thing is, i'm 6'3. when i lost my sleeping medication (because i have no insurance and it cost a few hundred a month plus 3 $200 doctor visits a year to discuss if i still need the stuff). but indicas will help me sleep, and more important to me, help me get back to sleep once i've woken up. and in the evening after work, or when i have alot of free time, i smoke sativas and i keep active and get the munchies, so i can eat a full dinner, and possibly even a second dinner if it seems ill be staying up that late.

i like this site because of the freedom i feel in discussing recreational use, and i do enjoy recreational use. but i felt i would like to discuss the one thing that i feel strongest about when it comes to marijuana. especially considering that unlike most medical users who use it to dull pain, weed is a cure for my problems if i have access to the correct strains. it really is the wonderdrug. i dunno if i'm being hopeful, but my sober sleep is getting longer lately. my average 3 hours of sleep a night is now 4 or so. its a step in the right direction.

thanks for reading, i'm gonna go break the law now, its almost dinner time!

Welp Illinois passed another hurdle today.... 6 to 2. (Kind of funny as to thats the amounts the law will allow... weird!) Now on to the State Senate next week then onto the State House for final approval.

You know what really gets me is the opponents to this MMJ Bill... claiming this Bill will allow more then the patient needs. WTF!?! That's like saying the pill industry can only make so many pills... that they can not stock pile them on the shelves.
The Illinois law soon to be in effect (I hope) will be for 6 growing plants and 2 dried ounces..... It also allows for Caregivers and MMJ grow shops/ dispensaries too.
ILL SB 1381.... be sure to see the Senate Amendment 005 for new terms and allowances which was added 28 Apr '09.
A adequate amount to last a patient for 60 days is to be determined by 1 July 2010.

Sorry Clayman but the Bill does not cover chronic insomnia, only debilitating medical conditions. At least the way I read it anyway. BUT there is an opening for future ailments to be added!
Oh well.... this is a start anyway!

oh yah ive long realized that my condition will never be covered because there are plenty of perfectly legal (no grey area like a mmj bill is) cures.

but those fuck you up and arent any fun. ambien sucks. i wake up drenched in sweat and sore all over.

these bills are a step towards decriminalization. once people see that its harmless to people who are already teetering on the brink of death (my grandma died suddenly while already on the way out because she was given no more than 10-20mg too much asprin) then maybe they;ll see its harmless to smoke in your 20's while watching star trek so you sleep better. (or just because star trek is awesome when you're high)
