Poorly PC

Post by Lemming »

My PC is very sick so I’m using a borrowed one at the moment. Hopefully this is only a temporary arrangement so I haven’t put my inbox and mail filter on this machine. This means that I’m not receiving emails so, if you’re a new member waiting for activation, you’ll have to be patient with me for a day or two.

LOL twitch. I have made crawls with you before and as I recall, we were all kind of slow, especially the night you all followed me from Amnesia to 420 De Kuil. You all thought I knew where I was going huh. That was the luckiest moves I ever made especially at night. hehehe
I need a miracle everyday

Hard disk on old PC died. Fortunately I have a backup of most important stuff. New PC has Vista (old one was XP) so this is giving me some problems. After some battling, I’ve managed to get email working and restored my old inbox. I’ve also got Access running and restored the coffeeshop database. I’m struggling with Visual Studio 6 though. This is not officially supported on Vista but all of the old programs I use to generate the site are VB6 so I need to get it going. If anyone has any experience of running VS6 (specifically VB6) on Vista, please get in touch.

One day maybe I’ll re-write the programs in C# but time is limited and the old programs, crude as they are, do the job.

Would Python do the job?

At least you would not have to deal with Visual Studio.

The O'Reilly publications Learning Python and Programming Python are useful.
