There probably aren't many (if any) police that know the significance with smoking mj and 420, it's a very American thing.Clayman wrote:you dont gotta worry, most every police force in the world knows BOTH significances to april 20. i never seen skins even show colors on the 20th here. thats a fast trip to jail.

It's derived from Section 420 of the Indian Penal Code, which states
'Whoever cheats and thereby dishonestly induces the person deceived any property to any person, or to make, alter or destroy the whole or any part of a valuable security, or anything which is signed or sealed, and which is capable of being converted into a valuable security, shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to seven years, and shall also be liable to fine.'
It's passed into regular use now throughout the sub-continent, so anyone that's acting as a bit of a conman is described as a 420, or 'char sau bees' (sp)

From wikipedia:BARBIE wrote:Whats the storey behind 4:20 why is it a stoner reference, sorry i may sound noobie here but wtf...
british btw...
Although there are many explanations for the origin of the term, one stems from a story about a group of teenagers at San Rafael High School in San Rafael, California in 1971. The teens would meet after school at 4:20 p.m. to smoke marijuana at the Louis Pasteur statue. The exact time was chosen because that was the time that afternoon detention was dismissed. By extension April 20 ("4/20" in U.S. date notation) has evolved into a counterculture holiday, where people gather to celebrate and consume cannabis.[1] In some locations this celebration coincides with Earth Week.[2][3][4] In Dunedin, New Zealand, students at the University of Otago and other cannabis law reform activists meet under a walnut tree on the Otago University Union Lawn on Wednesdays and Fridays at 4:20pm to openly smoke cannabis in public in what they consider an 'act of protest'.[5][6][7]
