FEB. 17 - FEB. 22 2006 Trip Report

Post by flfd14 »

Just completed my 4th annual trip to the dam. Here are some worthy notes if you are planning to visit in the near future:

- Barney's now officially SUCKS. Save your $. They were out of "Willie Nelson" their cup strain but I was told by others that it was not all it's cracked up to be. The "Pink Kush" was alright and the old favorite "Sweet Tooth" seemed the only worthy choice if at all.
-Grey Area has really gotten their shit together. Be sure to check out the "DNA Genetics" section on their smoke menu. The "Recon" and "Shark Tooth" were amazing. Possibly the best in the city at this time.
-"Arjan's Ultra Haze #2" at the Greenhouse was also awesome, however it is currently at 12.50 euro a gram. Get there early as they constantly run out in the evening.
-Highly recommend the "Dutch Moonshine" hash at the Dampkring. It is also available at Twede Kamer. It goes for 27 euro a gram but it is without a doubt the most intense hash high I have ever experienced. Had to do it....
-Manneken Pis french fry (frites) stand on Damrak next to the Delta Teras restaurant is still rocking out with the best munchies near the Dam. Try the nieuw Cheddar Cheese Saus.
-Abraxas and Coffeeshop Chocolatta both sell a bunch of different "Space" products. While most of them were not worth the time or money, I will say that the Vanilla Weed Cake at Chocolatta was pretty strong. Also enjoyed the Hash Chocolate bonbons at Kadinsky.
-As usual, STAY OUT OF THE BIKE LANE. I keep learning that the hard way......

Otherwise, enjoy your trip! Hope this info is of some help to someone.

Thanks for the tips. :D

Barney's has now received far too many mixed reviews for my liking and I will certainly be avoiding that place. I'll stick with Pink Floyd which is in the same direction.

Grey Area has been recommended to me a few times now as a grab and go sort of place with quality products at the price you would expect to pay. Certainly seems to be a favourite among the American visitors (wonder why? )

Totally agree with you on the Vlaamse Frites and will check out the cheese sauce. I am most definitely looking forward to a few portions of those little beauties on my next trip (31 days and counting).

barneys is down when they are down. When they go through bad times and bad traffic and vibe it can be horrible.

Barneys is a good place for a small breakfeast.
