Quoting In Posts

Post by Doog »

I read posts from users who use quotes of other posts and each time they do this, the name of the member they are quoting is displayed.

Each time I have done it, I only get QUOTE before the text instead of (for example) DOOG WROTE.

Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

My understanding of the quoting process is as follows: Click QUOTE then copy and paste the text you want, then click QUOTE again and then CLOSE TAGS.

When I submit the message, the name of the member I am quoting never seems to appear.

Someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong :?

Not sure I followed it all but try this...

"Right Click" and "Open Link In New Window" on the "Quote" icon in the upper right hand part of the post.

After that post what you want, edit what you want and roll on, with quotes and names intact.

Hope this helps and works.

You get DOOG WROTE before your quote. I only get QUOTE.

Could you please tell me exactly what you did from start to finish when you used my quote.

I would like a person to know that I am quoting them without that person having to search through all the posts to find out

Thanks :D

 I should be totally ashamed of myself to have posted this topic after all the posts I've put in before. Anyone would think I would be able to work out where I was going wrong

Still not to worry, just another of life's little mysteries solved by the ACD Forum Members.

Thanks again, Rez
