Buying weed(newbie question)

As i newbie for Amsterdam i have to ask.
When i walk into a coffeeshop, gotten the menu and so on, will i be given the stuff to inspect before i pay? like smell, look at and such? or will i buy and have to take my chances?

good chance if its pre bagged it taking a chance
BUT...
most CS will weigh the bud if front of you
if so you ask the budtender to see what you want on menu ask question about buzz and other..
or...
you just walk out to budtender and ask him whats the best indica,sativa or haze ... and ask if you can pick it up and look at it

Ask to have a look and smell of what you fancy, then you decide to buy. some you might not be able too though but most are cool with it.
Remember if you dont like the goods dont buy them, there should be no presure.

menus are on the counter in most cs's. ask the budtender if you see the bud. they're good like that. it's normal and accepted behaviour to look/smell the bud before purchase...

Most shops I have been in keep it in a Tupperware contain that you can see, smell etc, before they weigh it.
Some shops sell it pre-weighed in little baggies but I don't buy from them.
Bud tenders will answer your questions in all good shops.
If they don't,I don't go back.

Most shops that sell pre-bagged will allow you to inspect the buds as well, dont be put off by pre-bagged weed, Homegrown Fantasy for example sell pre-bagged but they're also one of the best.

good to know, think the base will be HGF since its just across the road and people say much nice about it. Any reccomandations for a Out and about sativa and a "knock me out for sleep" indica? weed or hash, come with recs:P

Am no expert but for a knock out the one that really got me was Trainwreck two years ago
Lived up to it's name.
Slept the sleep of the dead all night and was stumbling around the apartment like a drunk for about an hour the next morning.
