Everyone should donate to NORML - we can't be apathetic

Everyone should donate to NORML (National Organisation for the Reform of Marijuana Laws). I did, and will continue to do so. Find it here:

http://norml.org/

I have been watching the movement for legalisation for a number of years now and I have seen a little progress being made, but nowhere near enough, and less than I was hoping for by this stage. Elections are few and far between, and protest marches for anything these days seem to be diminishing and harder to organise. NORML are based in the USA, and I don't even live in that country but I still donated. Why? Because America is, lets face it, the biggest Western country and if its able to be sold legally there (like in a certain European country) this may be emulated by other Western countries. This is because "US homogeny" means that other countries tend to follow the US on many things. And also the fact that NORML no longer exists in my country thanks to politics and the rise of Big Brother.

I read recently that the UN has a lot to do with cannabis being illegal, as they introduced a resolution decades ago making it illegal under international law! (in aid of protecting children and similar bullshit). I often wonder what the UN is good for, except to act as a conduit for globalisation, and it seems to have its own agenda. I keep hearing bad things about it.

Anyways, everyone should make donations to NORML, and not just once. It is so easy, and they are the organisation thats actually going in to bat for this ultra important cause. It will pay dividends, imagine the drop in price and increase in quality if it were legalised? Also it is important to gain support on a grass roots level, influencing your family and friends to see the merit in legalisation. After all their the ones who vote for the government, and once a majority of the population supports it, it will happen.

Geoffk thanks for taking the time to read my post, but that sort of mentality will get us nowhere. Remember everyone, every dollar donation counts, these guys are the main organisation in the world supporting the movement so they are worth it. AND they are not for profit. I already made my money back from my first donation with their invaluable info on drug testing. After searching for hours on the internet, I encountered a huge amiunt of bullshit misleading info on this topic and this organisation was the only reliable source I could find!
They campaign with TV and newspaper advertising, take it to the lawmakers through many different means including legal avenues, provide legal representation to victims of the war on cannabis etc etc.

On a different note, shame on Switzerland for not taking advantage of their recent referrendum to have cannabis cultivation and selling made legal. What the hell happened?

every dollor you give goes nowhere! its just like help the pandas or help the kids in africa, the money never gets there or it is not spent proberly. No company or charity in the world will ever be able to push goverment into making them legalise, it will only be if the country sees fit to do so. If you take them to court you are wasting money because goverment does not listen to civilians through the penal system (in the US), in the UK this is a diffrent story. I know alot of trends tend to follow after the USA, but when you look at the drug laws, the UK started it. So to unwind it you have to do it at the source and if you are sending your hard working money to some guy in the US to help overthrow goverment, nothing will happen as it happening in the wrong country. Do somthing good stop wasting your money, give to the poor and do somthing about it yourself!
