I used to be a big fan , my last one a few weeks ago was to soggy for my liking bread is meant to be bread not soggy mush , will be the Meister for me from now on

Ditto, it wasn't good. Was this at the Reguliersbreestraat branch? That was where my one was awful.

I had one from the Reguliersbreestraat branch in June which was quite soggy also.
I put it down to all the juices coming from the meat, it was a messy experience to say the least. Still nice though.

If that's the one near Rembrandtsplein ? I'm not sure if I'm right but they may mist the bread !!!!! Iv seen it on a cookery show you have your bread under a klosh on a hot plate , mist with water , done right it's meant to kinda turn your bread/roll into a kinda bagel type consistency , crispy outside , chewy inside !!!! I saw them messing about with kloshes and just presumed that's what they were doing

Done wrong you just get very soggy bread , not helped by all the greases and juices !!! Yuck that's just wrong

I was horrified by my experience. My wife calls me a germ-phobic; I consider myself conscious of the potential of pathogens in my food "germ conscious". So I was quite relaxed to find Burger Bar, with its grill on display right our front, and workers wearing latex gloves. So I ordered and watched.. Within a few minutes it became very apparent. They are all wearing the gloves to keep their hands from getting dirty, NOT FOOD HYGIENE!

While I sat, I watched every single one of them but the grill guy do all tasks with the same gloves. They handled the clean buns, then the register/cash, then the raw meat, then back to the finished food. I watched one guy doing all this with a big string of raw meat on the end of his finger. It was disgusting. A little raw meat is probably OK. Raw meat, plus handling cash, plus the register, plus the finished food was way too much for me! I even watched one girl dumping dirty food trays left from the customers, then working the register, then back to handling clean food.. No new gloves or wash... on ANYONE while I watched the whole time until:

I refused the burger they gave me, and watched them like a hawk as they remade it with clean gloves. They seemed very bothered by my request, but complied... and still one guy touched by burger wrapping with raw meat gloves...

This was the Remblantplien location... I don't think I'll ever go back to a Burger Bar. Though for what it is worth, they do make good burgers, and I have found poor food handling somewhat endemic during my 8 stays in Amsterdam. I usually rent an apartment and cook myself now.

One other reminder - they press all their patties fresh. So it isn't like I was upset they took a frozen puck and dropped it on the grill. They scoop a big handful of meat from under the counter, throw it into this circle shaped holder, and press each patty out. It is very "raw meat intensive" if you will. After doing this, the patty person should change gloves... but they never seem to do this at the Burger Bar. They'll just move on to handling fresh buns and finished burgers.

Strike 2. If I read one more complaint about hygiene from this place in the next 2 weeks I won't be going there.

Try resisting when you're standing outside it incredibly drunk and stoned and you really want a burger. Didn't work for me...

I've eaten there before and it was lovely, but if they are going to be unsafe with the food, I'd rather walk along to Cafe de Klos or Burgermeester.

i second that

they differ from any restaraunt you go to by that you simply can't see what's going on in the kitchen. And lord let me tell you you don't want to know sometimes.
My advice is not to drink anything 30 mins before and after meals, that will pretty much kill all the germs.

The best burger bar for me is the one by 4-20 coffeeshop,Ok its cramped but its better imo.
