yeah the ranchers have only 4-6 cows or so and masage them with beer every day to get that unique taste. they are also fed with a special mixture of grains etc.

btw 275$ for a 2 person menu including kobe is super cheap. i have paid about 140 euros for just a 200 g wagyu tenderloin steak several times :/

pretty much right on except for it only being from the city of kobe. kobe is a good sized metropolitan city so no real cattle are raised there for the most part i dont think. at least it didn't look like it when i was there. im pretty sure the cattle has to be from the same prefecture as kobe though to be called kobe beef. yes they are fed beer. they are also massaged with and or fed warm sake.

the prefecture is hyogo and the capital kobe. like i said this has nothing to do with cattle in the states. they have only 4-6 cows each.

yesir not disputing that only that when i was in kobe i noticed its a very densely populated city with what seemed to be very little room. probably not room to store 1 -4 cows even. there are many smaller cities/towns in the prefecture of hyogo. from what i saw passing through diff parts of japan on the shinkansan there looked to be open land for this practice so i assume its the same in this prefecture too.

doubt it but who knows.

one of the reasons why kobe beef and beef in general is expensive in japa is the lack of space and natural resources. japan has very little natural resources on land and they rely on importing. which is why things like cantaloupe and watermellon can be like $10+ or so a piece. just thought id throw in this interesting fact. now back to the topic at hand...burger bar. love this place. sorry to thread hijack.

had the huge burger at burger bar with blue cheese (no weed :) ), and it was really nice, but i wouldnt order it medium rare again, because its too big and falls apart. my girlfriend had a small one medium with fried onions, and it was delicious
