Amsterdam East?

So i think i found a cheap hotel on Hotwire.com but its in Amsterdam east.. is that a good area to stay? How difficult would it be to get to the city centre from here.

It's only about 10 minutes walk from the centre, the area is fine, if you can I'd see about getting a water view.

I meant 10 mins from Central Station by the way, I believe theres a bus route down that road as well.
