Rezin Does Amsterdam - Day 1

Post by Rez »

OK, a starting point… :?:

Day 1

Touchdown, it’s about 9:15pm Wednesday March 15th. It’s cold and windy, certainly not outdoor weather. (BIG thanks to Big John, I took my BIG Coat & hat) We agree to take the train and head as quickly as possible to the ticket office and then to the platform, asking for directions from staff without stopping, you know how it goes, maybe a little rude but matey in the uniform smiles as he knows that these two men are “pre smoke” travellers.

We board a double-decker train at 9:45pm for €3.60 and as stated on the sign we leave at 9:48pm

Central Station and it’s now even colder… straight to the first cab sat in the queue at the traffic lights, “you free?”, “yes”, in we get, “the Marriot please”. 8)

Did he take the long route  Quite frankly my friend, I don’t give a shit!

We’re closer now, checked in to the Marriott, 11th floor, bags dropped… TTSSHHH, TTSSHHH - fresh armpits, lets go!!

After a quick map check and the recommendation from the concierge as to the closest Coffeeshop, we find ourselves, after a slight “oh there’s a headshop I need a pipe” detour walking into De Dampkring a little before 11pm

You all know that feeling, after the waiting, the planning, the saving, the travelling the effort, the cold and any other damn obstacle that could possibly get in the way, I’m here, and I’m actually in my first Coffeeshop.

I order 2 coffees, while my friend, Paul heads to the bud bar at the back. I’m rushing backwards and forwards between the drinks bar and the bud bar like a demented fool, I need to be at both places at once and cant but keep trying to… and that’s before the smoke. While the barman makes the coffee we agree on the G13 Diesel (man what a menu). While I’m paying for the coffee the first bit of bad news taps me on the shoulder… they’re out of the G13 Diesel but the budtender says he has NYC Diesel which is just as good… we buy 1g

We quickly grabbed the only free table right by the door, load the pipe, sip the coffee toke away… and wait. I’m feeling so excited. I’m also a little apprehensive about what to expect from the Diesel but after a long pause for thought (about 20 seconds) I hit the pipe again. Reload and hit the pipe again stating to Paul whilst holding the fully loaded pipe up into his view: “this is gunna fuck me up”

The place is rocking now, lots of peeps buzzing in/out and around. The bar-tender makes an empty glass tour of the tables and stops to have a brief chat with us UK travellers. A very polite, chatty guy who made us feel very welcome.

2 pipes in and we have to move table because there is so much traffic coming through the door, we’re becoming cold. We reseat just a little further back on seats that aren’t quite as comfy (good tactics for high turnover of customers).

More coffee and pipe No 3 is loaded and ready to be fired (I sound like a gansta with a gun). This time whilst holding my pipe up, my statement is “this is REALLY gunna fuck me up”. Paul said that he thought that I had said that before but I reminded him of the fact (sorry about the repetition here) that previously I had said “this is gunna fuck me up”. Pipe No 3 was “REALLY gunna fuck me up”.

The next 20 minutes seemed to go all kind of weird  ... funny that. My god, I was all over the place, vision, feel, speech, sound the lot. I was seriously high, something that I had never before experienced from the UK Skunk.

We left soon after the mad head fuck had faded only to be shocked to realize that the 20 minutes we just experienced was actually almost 2 hours. Cool. 8)

My notes were that the bud was sweet and crumbly yet sticky. The aroma was pungent and somewhat fruity. They played Herbie Hancock’s - Rock it and Mann Parish’s - Don’t stop bee-bop. What a blast of 80’s Electro Funk. I was so high and so happy. You had to be there. :D

We left De Dampkring and headed back to the Hotel. We drifted on by just taking it all in and just happened to spot Dolphins CS at the top of a turning to my right. We popped in and had another coffee, I felt a bit unwelcome but I think it was because we came in (wasted) strolled up to the counter, and made ourselves comfy. I only then realised that it was 12:45am and they were closing at 1am. So we had the coffee bought 1g of White Dolphin, had a smoke and hit the road.

I was a slightly disappointed with the White Dolphin as it was not that strong and it seemed to be very slow in coming.

We arrived back at the Hotel at about 1:20am only to find that the White Dolphin had ganged up on me along with the Diesel. Together, they crept up behind me, threw a blanket over my head and proceeded to tickle me and slap me around the head leaving me with only the ability to giggle and talk complete bollocks until I faded into a pile of useless flesh on the bed… last time check 4.15am

What a day!

I think that just about sums it up. Sorry if it’s too long, too short or poor English/Grammar. I had to do it this way just to re-live it.
Day 2 (Thursday) to follow.

Total Weed Purchases between 11pm – 1am

NYC Diesel 1g – De Dampkring – 9€
White Dolphin – Dolphins – 9€

Saved up all the un-read trip reports until I had time to read them and a good one to start off with, looking forward to reading day 2 in a moment but liked the introduction to your first coffeeshop (always a time to remember!)

The same with my reports, I write them to remember them myself first then happily let others read my adventures (reminds me that I still got 2 days to go on my own trip)
