Solo May 29th - 31st with pics now with poll!

Post by jollylittlehun »

Hi this is my first ever trip report it was my 4th time in Amsterdam but this was my first time doing it solo. I loved it and would do it again. Im not the best writer but at least the pictures are pretty :P

Amsterdam: Day 1

It was an early morning flight for me with the flight departing from Edinburgh at 6am, after saying my goodbyes to the mrs in the car park I walk into the airport and up the escalator, have a quick look at the screens... gates closing OH SHIT!! After a sprint through x-ray my arse is firmly planked on my seat next to the window behind the wing. Laptop out and im waiting to hear the seat-belt bing, it sounds and on goes Pineapple Express.

Flight arrived 15 minutes early. WOO!

Straight to the ticket-booth and 25 mins later im arriving at centraal station. Call the apartment guy to say ive arrived.

Shades on and im walking to the beat of Kasabian out of Centraal. Fucking hell its warm! Over to tourist information to get my 3 day bus/tram pass for 15 Euros.

First coffeeshop of the holiday Picasso Im greeted by a really cool budtender, he puts his hands together and gives a little bow. He hears my accent and starts to talk about how much he loves the Scottish people. I ask to see the white widow and bubblegum.

First purchase – 1g Bubblegum - 9 Euro

Got a nice big single bud looked and smelt great.

Image

Didn’t stop to smoke had to get to my apartment. So I head towards Westerpark get lost a few times but finally make it. Get in to the apartment and its amazing the front room is his art studio with his and colleagues work all over the place.

My apartment is behind the door at the end of the room, it’s a nice basic apartment with 2 rooms, kitchen, walk in shower/toilet and a little garden.

Once im alone in the apartment I can finally smoke my first joint of the trip. Blew my head off a bit, got a little paranoid as it hit me “Im in Amsterdam by myself” But that was short lived and before long I was walking out the door and heading down towards the centre..

Next stop Popeye

1 gram of Pink Kush, a mango looza and 30 mins internet time. About 17 Euros in all??

Image

Webcam on and I have a chat with the mrs so she knows im alright roll and smoke a few joints. Pink Kush was an amazing smoke got me really stoned, so stoned in fact that I forgot how loud I was talking. Guy behind the counter throws a pair of headphone/mic and it hit me on the head. I wasn’t too pleased but kept quiet. Don’t think ill be going back here again sadly.

Grabbed a cheap grinder for 5 Euros from Hempshopper asked about renting a Volcano for the night – 25 Euros I thought ill go for that but then came “Oh and 400 Euros deposit” No thanks.

Next stop 420 grab and go for 2 grams of Blueberry. This was my favourite smoke back in January.

2 Grams Blueberry – 16 Euros

Really big sticky and stinky buds with a great high and taste. In my top 3 smokes this trip.

Decided to visit the house I stayed in, in January just off Nieuwmarkt then went to the Old Indian Headshop for a decent grinder.25 Euros, but a nice metal crystal catcher.

Image

Head to Albert Heijn for some food and then back to the apartment for dinner.

Had a little sleep then went to the Red Light District for a gander. Popped in to Green Place but didn’t buy anything so had a looza and chilled in the smokers room for an hour or so.

Image

On the way back to the apartment I went in to Dampkring 2 for a gram of amnesia haze

1 gram Amnesia Haze – 12 Euros?
Knockout smoke don’t really remember much else about it.

Just outside my apartment there was a little park so I lay there smoking copious amounts of weed and watched the sun go down.

End of Day 1
Day 2 hopefully on Wednesday

Cheers for the kind word guys, here's day 2 a little bit early. Enjoy

Amsterdam: Day 2

I wake to the sound of the neighbours chatting away outside and 2 half joints of unknown weed and ash all over the place… Must’ve passed out. :P
Switch on the tv to see its 11am. Have a shower, make myself a nice sandwich and head out to the garden to finish off the remaining joints. Its hot again, in fact hotter than yesterday. Wish I had brought shorts instead of just jeans. The neighbours walk out 5 minutes after me, I clock them and quickly put out the joint then realise “Oh yeah im in Amsterdam” So spark it up again.

At about 1pm I finally make it out my apartment, walk down to the bus stop and within 5 minutes im heading towards Centraal Station. I call the Mrs and the first question asked is: “Have you got me anything yet?” So I spark up a joint and set off to Niewmarkt looking for the shop Zipper walk in and decide to go on instinct, first thing I see is a heart neckless, then a pair of sunglasses. I was in and out in seconds.

I hop on another bus to take me down near Vondelpark. I’d highly recommend getting the bus/tram pass think it ranges from 1 to 4 days. It really makes getting out of the centre a lot quicker.

I get off the bus and spark up a joint of blueberry and proceed to walk towards Mellow Yellow. On my way there I stumble across a record shop. Popped in to see what they had and decide on Pink Floyd Dark Side of The Moon on Vinyl. I had the choice between the Dutch and American prints. I get the Dutch version as its 10 Euros cheaper.

On my way to Mellow Yellow I see a clog boat.

Image
I saw the same boat back in January.

Image

I get to Mellow Yellow and it’s pretty crowded, I ask if they serve food and was told to go to the sandwich shop down the street. I grab a sandwich and stumble across my new favourite Coffeeshop. Coffeeshop Little. I go down the stairs and I’m greeted by a really nice girl, I ask if I can eat my sandwich in here and she was fine with it. Can’t remember what weed possibly Hawaiian haze? But, I grabbed a gram and a looza.

1 gram Hawaiian haze – 11 euro

I remember having a very clear head when I walked out of Little, don’t remember much else about it.

Image

She gives me a code for free internet access. My laptop ran out of battery so she took out the little game machine and let me plug my laptop in. She talked to me for a while and spots my vinyl and asks what id like on. I say Pink Floyd and she puts on some early Sid Barrett all the time I was there she played classic British bands like The Clash and The Cure, this was easily the best music and service ive received in my 4 trips to Amsterdam and I can’t wait to go back again.

After spending a few hours chilling I decide to walk back to the centre. I go through Leidseplein and go in to Rookies. It was my first time in here since the smoking ban and I quite like how they’ve made the smoking room.
Image

Wasn’t too impressed with the weed they had so I left and went across the street for some internet access. I had no change to jumped across the street in to a smart shop spot the truffles and decide to grab a box of their strongest.

1 box Leopard Truffles – 20 Euros??

I was told to eat them over a period of 3 hours as they were quite strong.

I go back over for the internet and chat away to the Mrs and friends for an hour or so.

On the way home I drop in to Homegrown Fantasy, its my first time in here and I liked it instantly, cool budtenders and a nice shop. Got a gram of some kind of Kush

1 gram Kush – 12 Euros?

This weed was amazing, one big nug and smelt and tasted so good. Had a great stone effect too.

Rolled a joint in HGF smoked half and went on my way to Abraxas.

Have a look at a couple of their weeds and buy 1 gram of Cheese.

1 gram Cheese – 11 Euros?

This was really compact and had a great smell, which got even better as I ground it up and It had that distinct Cheese high. Rolled a joint but didn’t stay as it was getting late.

Ive been a fan of Cheese since my 2nd trip in June 08 when me and a mate were in a heavy temple balls stone when a guy who was staying in our hostel comes over and gives us a joint of cheese it instantly gave us energy and we headed out. After that I always kept some cheese on me incase I had to much.

I spark my joint of Cheese and walk back to the apartment.

When I get back I prepare myself for the truffles. Roll 5,6,7 joints and start to chomp down on the truffles. I stick on the tv and watch random programmes from car modifying to giraffes. I eat the box within the hour (Ooops) As I start to come up I put on the rest of Pineapple Express and laugh my arse off for the next hour or so. Whilst watching It I started to get visuals and bright colours and start to see Sol’s face slowly but surely change in to a Leopard or a Lion. Was really cool.

The rest of the night is pretty much a blur, which more than likely ended up with me rolling around the bed laughing. I remember going for a shower and it felt absolutely amazing and also taking advantage of the “shower/toilet combo :P

End of Day 2

Day 3: You’ve got to go there to comeback hopefully by tomorrow.

This is such a great read, thanks again.

I was curious about your truffle experience. It sounds like you enjoyed it, but I wanted to know if you've ever done mushrooms in Amsterdam? Can you compare the experience of shrooms vs truffles?

Cheers!
