Day 6 - Thursday, November 22, 2012
So the final full day is apon us...10am and time to get things on the roll, literally and figuratively. The plan today is simple: Olympic Stadium for a look about and then stops at Club Media for hindu kush and Funkey Monkey for the much talked about Girlscout Cookies.
Take the tram to Olympic stadium, and what do we find immediately across the street?????
OLYMPIC-SIZED FEBO!
There were no Stadium tours today, but that didnt stop the Mrs from popping in and taking on the "kids" school info tour. It was a little push and pla grade 3 exhibition of Dutch sports greats. Although the target audience was well below our current age group, we both found it entertaining and fun...especially since we smoked a fatty of kosher in the parking lot before hand.
Off we go on a hunt for Club Media. I had heard so many great things about this place, was surprised it took this many trips to make the effort to find. After a tram and some bobbing and weaving on the wrong streets we find CM. The entrance is a glassed in section holding the weed counter. Quicksy over the menu, nothing else stands out, I am blinded by my Hindu Kush aspirations. Two grams and inside we pop, for a coffee and spliffs.
Now I admit...I'm 40 now and beginning to realize that perhaps the best of my days are in the past. That knowledge in hand, this trip felt like dialing the clock back a couple decades to when I first discovered marijuana.
Remember that first high?
Remember how blazed and super stoned you felt? The paranoia, the giggles, the pasties, the munchies. Those were the days.
I've been chasing that stonage I felt back in the day. Strain after strain, dealer after dealer, ingestation device after bong, coffeeshop after coffeeshop...
Finally...whats this? Goodness this hindu kush is hitting the right spot...my head kept flying, and the rise didnt stop for what felt an eternity.
What a state of bliss this is...as I stare into the distance, blankly gazing into a cerebral high, while I am blinded to those around me.
That is....until I realize I am staring directly at Smirks on the other side of the coffeeshop. A nod and a wave and 10 seconds later we are all seated together and enjoying the fruits of our purchases.
Sit and joke with Smirks, and he says I had looked his way a few times...my eyesight is getting so bad I couldn't or didn't realize I was looking directly at him.
We had a lively chat with a fella named Ricky from the States. Seemed like a good dude, but he also seemed to have experienced more than the average 25 year old. What a tale he spun about being a licensed grower from Cali, and then a dispensary owner, before finally settling in Amsterdam for a couple months to chill before a trip somewhere else to conquer something else.
As for Smirks, this dude is a top shelf stoner. He brings class to the show. I loved sitting and watching as he meticulously worked his craft. When I think of marijuana royalty I can't help but think of Smirks. It starts with his system of interconnecting jars. Each jar designated for a specific strain, stacked and organized into a tower of pot. Each compartment of the tower like a little room for its' particular resident herb.
Once Smirks has selected his potion, it is ground and placed into his chalice like bowl. From here, a golden spoon scoops the contents, just the right amount for the proper high. His glass wand, yielded like a King holding his septer.
It's like I said, a real class act. Had a great time burning, but it was time to head off to the Funkey Monkey.
The tattooed budtender at FM is great. Always a friendly smile and the best of service. Grab two grams of the Girl Scout Cookies and a drink and proceed to grind it up. WHat a wonderful smoke, coated...no check that...frosted in trichs, just dripping and falling like snowflakes.
Chilled at FM for a bit before deciding it was time for something to eat. Grabbed another gram of the Cookies on the way out and shared a laugh with our hostess.
Headed off to Haarlemmerstraat and before eating we decide on a vape session at Barneys. My notes indicate one gram of Liberty Haze, but it very well could have been a gram of Utopia Haze. Regardless, we vaped away our first and only vaped gram of herb the entire trip on our final night in town.
After that gram is done, we pop into La Grotte for dinner.
My notes for the night stop there, but I am quite certain we were at Voyagers the remainder of the evening until it closed. Slipped USBL a taste of the Cookies for his Bong, gave away some other goodies that I had very little chance of finishing before the morning hour
Also if memory serves right, there was one final stop into Green Place before turning it in for the night.
Coming up: heading home
