Day 5 / Part 1- Saturday, Feb 11, 2012

Last full day in Amsterdam.

There's something about knowing you only have 24 hours remaining that brings everything into perspective.

The Dam is a wonderful place. It makes fantasy reality. Wants fulfilled. Desires met, or at least reasonably facsimilated.

Waking up that Saturday, I remember feeling like I was breaking up with a girlfriend.

Amsterdam, you little trollup, you stole my heart, kicked dirt in my face, and left me asking for more.

I roll over, look at the clock... Fuck. It's 12-noon, we've just burned away precious hours.

I get Jinxsy up and after shaking the cobwebs away, we are en route across town to the cheese factory and a bite of breakfast... errr lunch?

Breakfast/Lunch was shaworma... oh man, bad choice for first meal of the day.

We inhaled our food, snapped up the cheese (real Dutch cheoese, not smokeable) and the last of our souvenirs.

We decide to drop off all our purchases at the apartment. It's still early, like 3-3:30., so we pack in preparation for tomorrow's departure, and I roll up as much of the wares for the night on the town.

Was supposed to connect with Gapie for a final night on the town but it wasn't to be. Texting and internet usage frigged up my phone.

A final stop into Basjoe for 3 grams of G13 Haze and coffees. Yes Basjoe, new owners, new vibe, new menu, new faces... but in reflection, still a pretty damn good shop and a place to hang.

Jinxsy fell in love with Basjoe, and I tell him stories of James and terminator and long smoke sessions.

"Where do you want to go Jinxsy?"

"How about Hunters for football and beers?"

And off we went into the night, looking for a good time, but not the kind that would find us.

Saturday, February 11 - Day 5 / Part 2

Very very disappointed in myself.

I wrote this recap twice already and both times i failed to save it.

Aaaaarrrrrrrrgh.

So anyways.... We decided to go to Hunters for beers and a footy action.

It is so weird watching soccer matches so much later in the day...back home we get game one at 11:30am followed by the nightcappers at 2:45 or 3:30pm latest.

we really enjoyed Hunters, fun stop, good beers and friendly staff and patrons.

After about three pitchers and 2 hours of viewing, a couple from Ireland sit down next to us.

They are about 40-45 in age, so a little older than us, but older enough that they look much more aged than ourselves.

They introduce themselves as Gary and Marie from Belfast.

Jinxsy cues in, "Is that the good half or bad half of Ireland?"

No response from our new friends lol.

After a few minutes of chatter, Marie drops something on the floor. As she reaches down to pick up whatever she dropped, Marie's right hand finds the inside of my thigh.

Goodness. There's a slight grasp and i realize that she isn't using my leg to balance herself.

During this time, Gary is making small talk but using my full name and Jinxsy's full name every time he addresses us.

Something is up, and my Spidey-senses are ringing.

Marie lights up a joint, offers me a toke but worried something may be amiss, I decline...Jinsxy however goes in full bore.

Marie is giving me the eye, so I ask her bluntly: "You two are looking to rip us off or have sex, which is it?"

Both of the Irish Decendants laugh out loud and Gary chimes in: "not sex with us...sex with my wife."

I.

Am.

Stunned.

Shocked really.

Jinxsy hasn't heard any of this, he's so blazed right now.

"Ok, nice meeting you. We are leaving" I reply.

I turn to Jinxsy and he's looking for another pitcher.

"Lets get out of here dude."

Jinxsy replies, "no they want to share another drink."

No dude, "they want us to have sex with his wife while he watches."

Jinxsy immediately jumps out of his seat like he was called to attention, and says "nice meeting youy, but I aint no swinger, especially with someone from the badside of Ireland."

Dang, what an unexpected occurance!

Needless to say, it was a funny ending to our final night in Amsterdam.

And it is a story we will never forget.
