Stoned in the morning light. May 09.

Post by angry pirate »

Well, after experiencing the sub-zero temperatures in Amsterdam in February, we decided we needed the old “sitting outside, beers in the park” type trip. So, three months further on and we were on our way to Schiphol again.
Early weather reports were mixed, but we landed into hazy sunshine just after 8am. An hour later, we were heading down to Leidseplein on a tram. Dump the bags in Rookies hotel, then back out asap...in case the sun did one. Living in Dublin, you learn not to waste these little gifts.
So, we got to the hotel, sorted out what we needed and got back out. Then we scratched our heads as to where to start, as Rookies c/s didn’t open til 10am. Thought about Dolphins, then decided on a brekkie stop in Leidseplein until Rookies opened. A whole 45 minutes to hang on, nightmare!!
Once their door opened, we zoomed in to scan the menu. Opted for the Romulan to start the day after info gained on...yeah, exactly.. :-) Sat outside and started to begin the fun. My better half has successfully kicked nicotine into touch, while i slipped back in . Luckily, Rookies mix was quality and they sold big bags for 1e. Happy days.
We decided to spend a few hours in Vondelpark as it looked like it was gonna stay nice for a while. Grabbed some munchies and stuff from Big Banana and strolled down to the middle of the park.
Saw an old bloke on a disability scooter pulling wheelies in front of the film museum. Just incase we needed reminding what city we were in, nice touch.welcome back.

Did nowt for the next five hours. Well, apart from smoking, drinking, laughing etc. The parkl started to fill up, families, couples, musicians, joggers and stoners mixing together. All played out to a soundtrack of two guitars and a mandolin, courtesy of the three fellas on the opposite side of the water we pitched up next to. It’s been two years since we had a nice day in the park, but you never forget the buzz around this place. Everywhere you look, theres something worth whippin the camera out for.

At around half 3, we decided to chip back to the hotel. The weed was almost gone too, and we hadn’t checked in yet, so back to Rookies via Tweedy.
Stepped out of the sun and down into a dark interior, fairly busy with locals, mainly N.African. No music playing, just little groups deep in conversation. Wasn’t that taken with the vibe, but this was a buy&fly anyway. Got 2g of Temple Ball from the young budgirl and took off home for a change of clobber. Sunburnt and stoned. Lovely stuff.
Gonna do the smoke list separate, at the end, as i've left a few notes elsewhere for now.
More to follow, but like some others, i’m off to work soon... after checkin to see if we broke a record. Peace. AP.
