The Netherlands are in a league of their own... they don't have any type of market to compete with because they are the only country that allows you to smoke bud in controlled areas. They have something that no one else has and they can capture a wide amount of people who just happen to be smokers. Theres only one Jeruselam, only one Meccha... with that said there is only one Amsterdam and it is a place of pilgrimmage.

So basically to take away something that no other place in the world has, that also keeps the tourists coming back and back to spend their money... that sounds like a lose lose situation for The Netherlands if you ask me.

It might be that weed is not the main tourist attraction in Amsterdam, but it obviously brings in money that they can't afford to lose. Legal front door, illegal back door. That's the only thing that I believe might change a little bit. Legal pot gardens to supply the shops are deffinaly a solution. But, for those of you who are worrying about this, I woulden't. Coffeeshops are here to stay

it's not gonna happen not enough locals smoke out there to keep so many shops open, it would kill the city
they just have to be seen to pro acitve against drugs,
