Way off topic , but I bet Miles is rolling over in his grave after being inducted into the Rock&Roll hall of fame :?

Kind of Blue ,Sketches of Spain ,In a Silent Way ...I guess you could make a case that they INFLUENCED rockers , and the man would be a charter member of any Jazz Hall of Fame . But I voted no

I don't know, Miles was so open-minded about music I can almost hear him saying in that gravelly voice

"at least those motherfuckers didn't forget me" :-)

He was a motherfucker, himself. Just ask anyone who played with him. Even someone as accomplished as Marcus Miller was totally intimidated, this in Miles' space jazz years.

I agree he's a curious selection for the Rock Hall, but I don't think he would have a problem with it :-)

Have to agree he was very openminded in in his controling way, and he admitted after Bitches Brew that he was influnced by Hendrix, But Hendrix was just as experimental in rock as Miles and just as influnced by Miles. When Iwas a teenager ( long, long ago  ) Dylan and Miles were my musical gods, and I just find it strange, but have to agree w/Lafe about not forgetting him, can just hear him saying that.

Just wanted to say thanks for bringing this artist to my attention, I've been a regular music listener for years and the most obscure I got was seeing White Zombie due to my bro wanting to go so I went with, anyway I had heard of Miles Davis but never took any notice so when I saw this thread I aquired ;) a bit of his music and its just what I've been looking for since smoking a nice J in Stix2 so thanks guys!!

My pleasure. Miles is one of the most influencial, experimental people in jazz. Help found cool jazz and bebop w/ John Coltrane ( check him out also) Inovator is a good name for Miles, one of the main people in "progressive jazz ) I probebly have most of the albums ( yes I own a record playor/phonograph ) and c.d's Check it out great music for all moods, from romantic to wild and crazy. Am really vapped and could go on forever ( jazz was first love in music way back when  ), but I won't. 8)
