Newbie
Greetings Fellow Coffeeshoplovers
I am working on making a profile. Once I figure out how to use a computer.
I have read a lot of this website and LOVE it. DAMN is it HUGE.
I get to Amsterdam usually once a year and count the days in between
I am at 20 days now so I can start counting the hours.
This trip is my 11th. My wifes 6th and I am taking my sister and her husband for their first. We have a 2nd home (We like to call it) a Nice houseboat on NewieKersersgracht < SP ?
Aint no place I would rather be.
I am going to try to make it to a meet and greet this trip.
Wish me luck
GREAT Forum
I hope to make friends here in the future

Welcome to the forum.
What dates will you be in Amsterdam?
I'll post you on the Whos In Town page.
You have been often enough that you may want to plan a Meet and Greet.
Give me a date, time, and coffeeshop and I'll post it.
Check WIT for the date with the most folks in town.
As I see it a Meet and Greet is a win, win, win situation.
1. Nobody shows up. You have spent an hour in a coffeeshop of your choice.
This goes in my win column.
2. One or more people show up. You meet some new friends in a great atmosphere. Yep, another win.
3. Everyone in town shows up and it turns into a coffeeshop crawl.
This might be the biggest win of all.
Enjoy

I never considered hosting a "Meet and greet" but it sounds like a great idea.
We will be in the city Aug 11th-19th.
(Only 385 days till I re-return) Maybe I will host a meet and greet then also
My wife tests for her black belt in karate 3 days before we leave (If she gets it) we will be celebrating for sho ! ! !
I can always talk her into a trip to De Kuil (I am a HUGE Zappa fan)
So lets shoot for Aug 13th De Kuil at @ 4:20 < Easy time to remember.
I will be the old guy with the grey ponytail poundin on the vaporizer
If anyone shows up and seems cool enough maybe we can return to the houseboat.

Thank you for the information.
You and your Meet and Greet have been posted on the August Whos In Town page.
You can see who else may be in town during your stay.
I see JDS has something going on the 18th.

within the website that FlyByNite mentions there is a section entitled How not to get hit by a bikeFlyByNite wrote:First timers get my S G Collins recommendation
I think a read of this will maximize your efficiency once you get there.
How not to get hit by a bike and other stuff they forgot to tell you about Amsterdam
if you have already read this document, then that is great
if you have not read this document then please please find some time to read it for your safety, the traffic in amsterdam is nuts and if you are smoking extra care is needed, so thanks
it might be a good idea if your sister and her husband have a read too, the document is only 4 pages so it could be printed and shared around to help keep all of you safe
have a great trip ...

Umm...yeah...I made the noobish mistake of booking one of the airport hotelstoolsheddaddy wrote:I saw that you are on the "Whos in town" list
Maybe we can shoot for another day/time ?
What part of town are you staying ?
It'd definitely be cool to meet up for a little bit. It's just the fiancé and I so we're trying to be somewhat lowkey and stay in smaller groups. It sounds like you're only a group of four, so that'd be perfect! We may want to shoot for later in our stay as our tolerance for Dutch weed is low and if you meet us on our first or second day we might be totally incapacitated

I am also excited these days 17 days to go
If you want to pick a day and place to meet let me know
I know what you mean @ the Dutch weed My wife doesnt smoke and my sister is a light weight. I told her she can only smoke back at the houseboat cause I dont want to be picking her up off the floor of any coffee shops.
Neither of them mind kicking it for a while in coffee shops while me and my brother in law smoke it up.
