James always delivers. Always. Love love love his weed. Still great. He's busy, but seems in good spirits when I was in for a really short buy and fly.

GREAT OG Kush (15E/g) expensive, but top. Great lingering flavor. Mess-you up kush stone but still warm, happy and not (completely) debilitating if you're a huge smoker.

GREATER Amnesia Haze (12E/g) Sticky. Yummy. Sensual.

Great Bas Special (12E/g) Big sticky indica buds. Strong, relaxed, mellow, but not totally debilitating stone. Great flavor. The way I like my indica.
Because life is too short to smoke bad bud.

last weeks g-13 haze i can highly recommend!

heavenly haze is pretty good, but a few levels below the g-13 (less aromatic, maybe better as a daytime smoke).

Still rate James amnesia as one of the nicest buzzes i ever did have from an indoor grown and last year i postman patt'ed some home and tested it in my local park and at home with my own tunes etc and absolutely adored every minute and was soooo much
better than the rhino and chronic and cheese i get and I couldn't smoke enough of the
fucker. Top gear IMHO

Ok I was here last week April 7th...I did not enjoy my time here at all..very poor service from the budtender...grumpy bastard who only seemed interested in serving his 2 friends...tried making conversation with the budtender...tried smiling at him...thanked him for my purchases and still no fucking reply from him? how ignorant can you get... picked up some Bas Special..can someone tell me what all the hype is about this strain? bit of a let down...just tasted like normal generic badly cured weed IMO..picked up some Jack Herer also...average at best..seems very dull inside, stayed for a joint of each weed and immediately left afterwards.. said my goodbyes to the budtender and still no reply from him...absolute wanker. I vow to never return here again, and advise anyone thinking about visiting here to be warned that the budtender is a grumpy bastard and the grass is nothing special either...many many better places to visit..pretty disappointed considering this place has got such great reviews here?? very surprised to be honest...maybe people are being a bit biased towards basjoes? anyway this place is not for me...

first time I went ot basjoe I was not registered on the forum nd I came there by an accident so I don't think to be biased. I'm srry that you had such a poor experience, james is usually very welcoming nd helpful, but I think evry one caan have a bad day and being pissed of. this is not a an excuse for such a behaaviour but I don't think that this give you the right to insult him especially on a forum. if he was unkind with you, you could bring that to his attention , this I think was also in his interest of business man. or maybe you can consider that you also could have had a rude behaviour. insulting here is not useful

Sounds like caught them on a bad day indeed. His weed can be first rate too as stated previously. Not wanting to talk to you does not make one of the few genuinely warm owners in dam a wanker though, give some slack. I never met them until last year said hi introduced myself as an ACD dude and was bring shown big bags of cheese and god knows what else within seconds so I think you've just been unlucky

its nothing to do with whether he talked to me or not...its to do with the over all body language and the poor quality of the service we received as a whole. it was as if we shouldn't have been there, that's the vibe we got. As I stated elsewhere..this is a section for reviewing coffeeshops and I gave my review. it's not that hard for someone to smile or even pretend to smile for that matter...as for insulting him I'm not entirely worried about that..had the service been good then I'd be raving about what a nice guy he was...but he wasn't. anyways perhaps it wasn't James working.. would you continue to go to a restaurant if the staff treated you poorly?? I think not ..the same applies for anyone providing a service, be it a budtender in a coffeeshop or a waiter in a restaurant..if the service is poor I wont be returning...

Are you an American by chance? (I'm an American- I don't ask that as an insult.) I only ask that because in America we like our service with a smile, but I've discovered that's not always the standard for good service in Europe.

Also, some shops that people love I've found disappointing. (For example two trips in a row one of the two strains I bought from Grey Area was underflushed- long time ago now, but they got dropped from the list. Just this trip, while Katsu's weed is good, the other service I got places was so good that I think I'm over the pre-weighed and indifferent service thing there. But I believe that the people here who love those shops have good reason, and I believe they get bud that makes them happy there.)

That being said. You should go to shops you like and prefer the service standard. That's why it's great that there are so many shops in Amsterdam.

Out of curiosity, which shops did you really like?

It's totally not the case that James is only nice to people from the ACD. He had no idea I participated in the forum until I had known him for quite awhile. (Honestly I'm still not sure he knows.)

And, the weed there is hands down some of the best, most consistently well grown and cured bud I've found in Amsterdam. Trip after trip. But, don't take my word for it:

To clear up confusion with people:

The Bas Special is not a strain of weed. It's just Jame's favorite tasty indica of the moment. It changes a lot.

Thank you, finally someone else who knows...

Also, thank you for your pics and opinion, and to moogle's opinion as well. There are over 200 shops in the greater Amsterdam area, I'm sure there is a shop that would suit just about any particular taste or expectation. I found just that shop for me, it's The Original Formula!
From the first day I (legally) set foot in this shop back in 2004, I've received respect, attentive service, and high quality gear at reasonable prices (recent menu additions notwithstanding).
There is but only one King, and he is the Dread King James.

I couldn't agree with you more about the Amnesia, seriously one of the best smokes of a trip filled with great smokes. My only complaint about James' Amnesia Haze is that it really is the strongest Amnesia I've found and so it doesn't make me quite as horny as some other Amnesia's I've smoked. (Which is something I love about the others particularly Amnesia/Barney.) I call that an "Amsterdam problem."
