Nes Cafe
I'm sure that I read somewhere that due to the changing license laws, Nes will be closing for a facelift at the start of April. Can anyone tell me if this is true or if I have imagined this somehow?!!
I am staying at the RHO hotel on my next trip so Nes will very much be my local, so wondered if it will be open when I am there?
Apologies if this is a stupid question, like I say, think I read something somewhere about this!

Builders stoned again huh?DC wrote:"Iceberg, dead ahead!". Holland being Holland and Amsterdam typically being Amsterdam you'll have to give me a week or so before I'll fully be able to confirm anything on that.![]()

If only mate.
When I said iceberg, I mean't it. The owner of the building the Nes Cafe is in has decided, based on morals, he doesn't want a coffeeshop in his premises. (He owns the building, the brewery rent it from him, we take the license from them. Around 97 the coffeeshop part was 'added' to the origional license.) Because the origional license was for a bar, he's within the law to object to a 'change' of license at his premises. That said, the Nes Cafe 'coffeeshop' will cease to function from March 31st.

Such a Shame if it comes to pass ...I remember sitting at the NES bar last November watching the business hum...DCs coworker (youngish fella ,with hair) was patiently explaining the varieties of weed to a never ending line of customers ,offering sniffs, showing great patience and just being all around helpful. Seemed to me that was the way it SHOULD be in a CS ...
Over on Channels theres a new post by "itsmymagicallife"(who lists his residency as in AMS) stating that the mayor of AMS NOW wants the CSes that presently sell beer/alcohol to be able to continue to do so...and he goes on to outline the required steps for this to happen....bit late ,but is there a glimmer of hope in this ?
