Black Bombay - has it completely disappeared?

Post by DonMarciano »

Hoi all!

I used to score Black Bombay back in the days ( mid-end 90's) but then, early 2000's, it disappeared from the menu of the place we used to get it and I have never found it anywhere ever again.
It used to be one of my favorite hash, with such a spicy taste, very distinctive from the other Afghan or Nepali blacks available at the time.
So, has anybody ever tasted that particular hash, has it completely disappeared? Is there any other current black hash that would be close to it?

peace

At 5€/g, it definitely couldnt be. I used to get it at around 14 guldens (around 7€) which was reasonable compared to prices in the coffee's around (we did not get ours from a coffeeshop but an "address") + that was mid to end 90's

I guess it's gone then :-( I ll try a few blacks around, bluebird seems to have a good range and it will be my local when I visit the Dam in may.

Even more than weed, hashish in coffeeshops is mostly just a name game. There are no protected brands and there are no protected descriptions of particular specimens of hashish, it is just given a name. If you are lucky, the description of the origin of the hash you buy is accurate, and some types of hash get the same name in different coffeeshops (like cheap black hash is almost always called Afghan, no matter from which country it originates) or they give it a fancy name so you pay more. Maybe the coffeeshop can tell you if it is made from sativa or indica plants (most coffeeshops don't know) and can give you an indication of the quality by the price (...)

The name bombay black was fancy years ago. Now the same (type) of hashish is (in most cases) sold under a different name.

Don't let the name fool you, look at it/smell it/ try it, it might be the same gear you bought back in the days.

Maybe they can not sell you the 'perception' of bombay black, it might still be the same thing ;)

My faverate hash when I first tried it about 7 years ago from Central as I recall. While cheap it was certainly my faverate daytime smoke that trip. Sticky as fuck and like a thick play-doh to handle getting softer the more it was played with. Was the first hash I tried in Dam that never needed heating to work into a joint, just had to roll the stuff into a nice long sausage! :)
