I was thinking of perhaps trying the metro from Schipol into Amsterdam for a change this trip but don't really recall many mentioning doing the short trip via the metro underground line?.
Where would I buy the ticket from at the airport for the trip into Dam?, where do I go to catch the metro?, how often do they run and what's the name of the metro stop by Voyagers?.

Lol, I took it for granted that there would be seeing as the metro does seem a fairly extensive system. Ah, well train it is then this trip

Bus 197 will bring you into town, but only to the southern edge of the centrum. You could always tram in from Leidseplein after getting off the bus.

On my last trip to A'dam, I took the train to WTC/Amsterdam Zuid, as I was staying near the Concertgebouw. The train (and inbound tram) was less crowded, and got me to my destination rather quickly, without all of the usual nonsense associated with Central Station. I would recommend this route, if you're staying in that area.
