I'll be there for most of May (don't have exact dates yet), but I've already book May 27-31 at Hotel Voyagers. Hope to see you and others there.

Re: may 21st to july 21th
By the way, I've wondered what it would be like to spend an extended time in Amsterdam like that. The longest I've been is 7 days. Do you run out of things to do? Probably not. I know that 7 days doesn't seem long enough for me. The feeling I get when I'm at Schiphol ready to head back to the US is a real downer (not too different than being dumped, haha). I've always combined Amsterdam visits with a stop in other European cities (so far Dublin, Belfast, London and Berlin). In May I'm going to Madrid as well as Amsterdam. Can't wait.

I find the bigger risk is to spend a lengthy period of time there, only to realize as you're packing to leave that you didn't do anything!mafufero wrote:By the way, I've wondered what it would be like to spend an extended time in Amsterdam like that. I'm looking at the possibility of 7 weeks in Europe in May/June... probably a month in Amsterdam, late May-late June, with two weeks traveling in Ireland before, and a couple of days in Dublin after (much better, and more frequent, sales on rt flights from here to Dublin than to Amsterdam!)...

That sounds like a fun trip. I did the Ireland-Netherlands combo back in 2011, spending about 2 weeks in Ireland then a week in Holland. In regard to going from Ireland to Holland, you can also get a direct cheap flight from Belfast to Amsterdam on Easy Jet if you so happen to be in Northern Ireland. As for the trans-Atlantic flights, I noticed earlier this week that it's only $770 round trip to Dublin from the US, which is 200 less than it is to any other European city. So your itinerary makes a lot of sense and sounds like you'll have a blast. I considered going to Ireland again this year for that same reason, and also because there is still a lot I want to see, but in the end opted for Spain since I've never been there. If we're in Amsterdam at the same time, I hope we can smoke one. I'll probably get there around the 7th of May and will leave the first week of June. The trip to Spain will be in the middle of that for about 11 days (not sure of the exact dates yet). Agreed, which is why I won't stay at a hotel in the next trip (other than a four day stay at Voyagers at the end of May). I got a place for a week near Rembrandt Park in Oud-West for 300 Euros a week, small attic apartment with bathroom.
