Hidden Gems

Post by Lemon Haze »

I'll be in town for a few days this month and was planning on hunting down some hidden gems, CS's and strains outside what people normally rate high, to see if I can find anything worth returning to. Who knows, maybe they'll all be shit, but figure it's worth stretching my boundaries a bit beyond the regular handful of places and strains I frequent in Ams.

So, I'm thinking about 137, Relax, Little, City Hall, T'Keteltje, Super Skunk, and Mediteranee as places I've never been, but want to see if they're worth returning to.

Does anyone else have any recommendations on lesser known places you've checked out that aren't tourist traps or rip off joints?

I'll post my trip report and let you all know what I find, hopefully at least a few of these places will produce some worthy gear and atmosphere!

The only thing that makes Mellow Yellow worth a visit is that it´s one of the oldest CS in town. Qualitywise I would not go there.

if La tert is still open its out door seating is some of the nicest of any CS in the Dam. It really is a lovely spot. Mr. K. Might be worth a visit. If you go see to De Graal which is a hidden gem in itself then you might as well head for de Kabouter which is just over the road down by the canal opposite.
I like popping in there just b4 closing and having a cheeky one on those comfy sofas while I take in the scene which is always interesting.

Greenhouse Namaste open air seating. It really is a nice location on a warm day/evening.

Spirit if you like pinball. Not far from t'ketelje which by the way is the same as Prix D'ami. Also since you are on the west side Paradox. Usually has something interesting. Nice place in any case.

Again on a warm afternoon then take your purchase from 1eHulp to the bar 'Soundgarden' just over the main intersection from 1eHulp. They have a nice beer garden there backing onto a large canal.
Get there early to get a seat in the coveted smoke friendly beer garden. They also have cheap pinball.
How much did you produce?

Take Tram 10 or 14 to the Dappermarkt area:

Happy People
Trefpunt
Best Friends

...and if you continue on 10 Nogal Wiedes is a stop or two past the windmill brewery (Brouwerij 't Ij).

In fact, if you take 10 in the other direction you will find de Republiek, and pass 1e Hulp on the way.

I stumbled on Superskunk the other night - very comfortable and a nice bag of White Choco for a mere 10 E

Mellow Yellow is OK - but apart from its history, is pretty basic. Mediterranea seems pretty under sued (and on the closure list) - went there once when staying at Funky Chickin (yards away) and found it friendly and good value..

Awww, break really bad and do a half day trip to Haarlem.

7,60 euro return 15 minute each way train ride.

Haarlem coffeeshop map - http://thekaart.nl/en-netherlands-haarl ... 179_0.html

Be sure to hit Birdy, Empire, and WW Sativa.

No need for an early departure, most Haarlem shops don't open until 10 or 11.

Lots to see and do other than coffeeshops also.

Do it this trip, thank me later.

Enjoy
