Try the Kashmiri Lounge as it's away from the centre, near to Vondel Park and there're lots and lots of coffee shops on the way there. Unless of course you take a tram and then you just get to the Lounge and go past all the coffee shops on the way there, however you could get a strippencart and hop on and off the trams at each coffeeshop - in which case you'll get to the Lounge wrecked, be at the Lounge wrecked and leave the Lounge wrecked. Stripencarts are worth getting as it can be hard on the feet and Amsterdam is fun, enjoy..... :D
Can be found at 420, Illusia Road growing my own

Strippenkaart is a strip of tickets used on the trams, metro and buses. You could also buy a card which is good for a certain amount of days. I've never taken public trans in the dam. I've only walked and biked. But next time, I might buy the card. That way you just show it and your'e taken care of. No tickets to have to worry about.
There a lot of great shops, and lots of touristy traps. Some of my faves are Siberie, Rokerij, Dampkring and Willie Wortel's in Haarlem (worth the trip). I might add Grey Area, Mellow Yellow, Amnesia and possibly Stix in there as well.
And welcome by the way. :D

Shit, I flippin' forgot one of my favorites: Bluebird

Sounds great my friend!

Can you recommend any strains to try out? Im not looking to sit on the couch all day staring at the walls so a more mellow smoke is probably best for me during the day.... I know most pack a serious punch in the Dam but i need need to function at some sort :P ...

Also, Whats some good bars to kick back and have some drinks?

All the help is MUCH APPRECIATED....

Welcome
Not going to recommend any shops that have''nt been mentioned already, by if you want to avoid couch lock smoke Sativa's instead of Indica's. 8)
Read some of the current trip reports, they will be a big help since you are going in a few days.
The coffeeshop directory here is also very helpful.

Looking at Grey Area's menu, they got mostly Sativa's. That would be a good start. De Dampkring's menu describes the type and effect of each weed as well. Happy hunting.

heard that from many people and also saw an english guy being bothered by a street dealer on our last trip, but never have been bothered by them.....maybe we dont look like the typical smoker :D
