One Day Trip 13th Feb

Post by Drenbt »

Last night the misses mentioned that she was wanting to take a day trip to Dam for our Anniversary on Friday 13th Feb

Which was quite a pleasant suprise seeing as I had no real intentions of going back until her b'day/420 week. But seems that she might be able to sway me

This would purely be a smoke as much as you can in a day job but if anyone else is out there this time and wants to join us for a a few can make some arrangements!

I'm toying with the idea of taking the overnight ferry out there as my return journey after new years was quite a pleasant one, the on board restaurant really is top notch. Also contemplating a change of scenery as I have never ventured out of Amsterdam.

Can anyone comment on Rotterdam and if there are any decent C/S? Most importantly how decently priced are they??

Rotterdam would be about my last choice. It's brutally un-quaint.

Try:

Maastricht
Utrecht
Leiden
Zutphen
Leewarden
Delft
Alkmaar
Haarlem
Zwolle
Deventer
Enkhuisen
Narden
Amersfort

Those are cities from my planning notes.

Have a great trip

On my first trip in 03, I took the HS ferry from Harwich to Hook of Holland from UK.

I really enjoyed both the train connections and the ferry ride. The boat had a real party atmosphere. This was in the late spring so both train rides (through UK and Holland) were quite scenic, particularly in Holland with rows of tulip fields in full bloom.

No such luck in February though, and if I were pressed for time, I would opt for air.

I will be there at this time also, and on the 13th I am taking a ganja tour. I don't know if this interests you or not, I see you have 5 visits already.

In any event, have a good time.

Can't speak for CS in Rotterdam since the only other city I have been to so far is Haarlem, which was excellent for CS.

I have to agree with Pala... Me and my girlfriend stayed in Rotterdam for 3 days last August and she totally hated the city. It's basically a huge port... nothing special about it.
As to coffeeshops I would recommend "de Lachende Paus" and "Café Witte De With". The prices are about the same as in Dam, maybe 1euro or so cheaper. I wouldn't bother going there.

To keep a little more of the big city atmosphere consider Den Hague. Some nice coffeeshops(my fav is Kramers) and lots to see all within walking distance of the stations. Also a great tram system similar to Amsterdam.

Yep Den Haag was fun too. Lots of big squares with cafe seating. Great museums.
