The Wire
Maybe the greatest show in TV history... The Wire (HBO)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Wire
The Baltimore drug trade told over 5 seasons from 5 different perspectives. Law enforcement, the importers, the drug organizations, the education system, and the media... all the time weaving the politics throughout the duration.
One of the best scenes, McNulty and Bunk talk for three minutes using only the word "fuck".
Warning: strong language and some nudity and violence.
Few shows come close to the writing, acting, and realism of this show. The actors are by and large not stars and were cast for their "non-Hollywood" looks so to speak.

Re: The Wire
The Wire was the best thing I'd ever seen till I saw 'The Newsroom.'
Maybe there is hope for the USA after all....

Re: The Wire
As long as they profit what do they care the long term impact it has on an entire region? It entertained the uninformed masses, and they cashed out that's all that matters. Sounds like a lot like what Romney did for a living with bain capitol.USBONGLORD wrote:Come here...that show doesnt even come close...bring armor and bullets
.......so theoretically some of you give people like Romney your money.....not me though, i bootlegged it I understand the importance of choosing carefully where my money goes though... choosing where your money goes is far more powerful than any vote you will cast...

You know I went to Baltimore when I was a kid. Thought it was a really nice town. Didn't see much beyond the City Center development by the water. Harbor Bay or point I think it was called.USBONGLORD wrote:Come here...that show doesnt even come close...bring armor and bullets
When I saw The Wire couldn't believe it was the same town!

Re: The Wire
I saw writer David Simon interviewed on UK TV and he made the exact same point and said he lived a few blocks away from where it is set and was a peaceful suburb.treetop wrote:You know I went to Baltimore when I was a kid. The Wire struck a nerve with people living in large cities all over the Western world.
