A new daily service from Manchester Airport to Amsterdam has been launched by Flybe.

In total, it takes Flybe’s routes to 17 to and from Manchester, with up to 660 flights a week.

Flybe is the largest scheduled airline by the volume of traffic movements at Manchester and this will be its third winter season there.

The airline is pushing a focus on its link-ups with other airlines so passengers can fly via Manchester to long-haul destinations.

Its most recent collaboration is with Finnair to Helsinki and onwards to many destinations, including 15 in Asia.

The airline has also increased its frequency to Inverness, with three a day, and it’s added an extra six flights to both Exeter and Newquay. There are also daily flights to Milan Malpensa.

Paul Simmons, Flybe’s chief commercial officer, said: “The diversity of our winter network this year is greatly expanded and, on existing evidence, the demand for flights on our new route to Amsterdam is extremely high.

"We have scheduled these flights at optimum times for those making onward connections through Schiphol.”

Ken OToole, chief commercial officer at Manchester Airports Group, added: “We are delighted to see Flybe’s ongoing commitment to Manchester Airport.

"The choice of routes available reinforces our ‘Fly Manchester’ messaging, with a wealth of accessible destinations available to the 22m in our catchment area on their doorstep.

"The continued use of Manchester Airport as their regional hub remains to be extremely positive and supports our ever increasing long haul services.”
