Schiphol Amsterdam airport will completely prohibit smoking in 2008, starting January 1.
This also means that in all cafes and restaurants on the airport smoking will not be allowed.
Schiphol is the first big European airport to implement the smoking ban so drastically. Smoking is only allowed outside. There will be no special smoking zones in the terminal.
In 2008, smoking will also be banned in all cafes and restaurants in the Netherlands.

While we're on the subject of Schipol..... where's the best place to have a sly joint outside.
I've been so many times and everytime I get so stoned by the time I'm set to head for the airport I don't think to bring a "Last Smoke". The problem is that at the end of my trip my tolerence is sky high and I'm more or less straight by the time I get there and regretting not having a sneaky smo.

I always take a couple of joints with me to Schipol before catching the flight back home, and smoke them outside.
I go and sit by the big water feature outside the main entrance and have never had any problems.
I've been sat there, having a smoke, and there have been other people there doing the same thing.
I do exercise a little discretion, and if any people walk by, I'll just cup my joint in the palm of my hand till they pass.

Are you sure? I thought all smoking was now banned? You certianly cant smoke in the little bar upstairs like you used to be able to, or the cafe near gates H. You can smoke outside the train station bit,not tried a joint though.Worsall wrote:There is a very small smoking booth by Departures Gate H.
When my flight was delayed by two hours on the way home I wondered if anyone would notice a hash joint - not that I had any with me anyway![]()
Anyone tried, my thoughts are it may be taking the piss somewhat though
