Cant believe how non considerable voyagers got to me for this list. Not only is the seating area so bad now with the fish tank (i know they didnt have a choice but still) but also was the weed pretty bad the last times i went.
137, yanks in zandvoort and i think cs centraal are the best ones to me.

Probably time for a new poll. Got a bit on at the moment but you could start thinking about nominations.

You're probably right, butLemming wrote:Probably time for a new poll. Got a bit on at the moment but you could start thinking about nominations.
How about establishing a "Coffeeahop Hall of Fame" honoring the departed?
I would nominate HGF, Any Day, and Abraxas Too!

Re: Your 3 Favourite Coffeeshops
I must have voted, but have no idea for which shops. It changes a lot, sometimes by the day.
For one reason or the other I didn't spend much time or cash in most of the shops that have closed, so I've been lucky. But I still feel nostalgia and irritation when I pass by where Blues Brothers used to be. The only shop in the soulless Kalverstraat, and you'd have thought it would be a tacky tourist trap, but it wasn't. And then one day it isn't there any more, and nobody really knows why, and there aren't even any rumours, just stoned mumbling about the school law (which didn't affect it). Because that's the way things go.

Re: Your 3 Favourite Coffeeshops
Now that both Nes and basjoes are gone we would have to go with these three in no particular order:
De Graal
Boer
Utopia
Sad that two of these may soon be gone also...

Re: Your 3 Favourite Coffeeshops
DLN: Easy Times is for sure amongst the : top runner ups, but looking back at the quality vs price, personal service and general mood of the shop utopia just sneaks by them... If it was a top two there would be no doubt that it would be Boer and the grail, they are far ahead of the others...

Re: Your 3 Favourite Coffeeshops
Totally agree... There have been some fine coffeeshops disappearing recently... Only right that we a sort of memorial/HOF.notsofasteddie wrote:

...Again, i totally agree... Blues Brothers wasn't the prettiest, didn't always have the best weed, and the patrons were sometimes a little more rowdy than usual(especially upstairs), but it had it's own vibe, and sometimes some top-draw hash...
...The stairs were also a big factor in my early memories of the Dam.... Trying to carry two coffees up there whilst completely stoned were a highlight...
...For my mates, anyway!
Re: Your 3 Favourite Coffeeshops
I think you'll find Blues Brother's was on Nieuwendijk rather than Kalverstraat. There were at least five coffeeshops along there once. I don't know why they closed.
There is a thread remembering lost shops somewhere. I remember posting about my favourites, HGF and Chai Shop on there. Also, if you look on the first page of this thread you'll find links to previous polls.
My thinking is that we archive this poll in the same way and then start off with a new list of 50. It's just a matter of deciding which 50 ...
