As for household CFLs I think you will find that they do push out enough lumens to grow (you know this Boner , you read icmag) BUT they're more suitable for small cabinet grows etc and certainly wouldnt be enough for a Decent size groom
Hi Cisco. Thanks for the reply.

It can be done man but not what your proposing I'm afraid  sorry man , you defo need extraction and carbon filter your extractor does the job of lowering the heat and getting rid of smells

Have you thought about building a small cab ? Check out this thread there is lots of advice concerning designs etc

you can not bank on leaving window open to keep temps down even that will be variable wind speeds temps direction etc Not to mention the security risk

A self contained environment is ideal as gives you greater control of temps humidity and so on. a how would a tent and filter heat the room further? its taking fresh air in from room and taking slightly warmer air out of tent and back into room . This will not be enough to significantly alter temps and if you leave window open so fresh air gets into room should be negligable.

to help further you could have lights on mainly at night as cooler then or schedule so lights off for hottest part of day

I just think your looking at problem wrong way in the problem should be im going to set a tent up in a room that can get hot how do i control temp of air taken in to keep temps at correct levels ?

a good variable speed fan filter and controller open window when your at home lights off for as much of day as possible regular checks should be fine and would allow you to use proper lights as you want a return for your effornt not a load of schwagg youll be left with hanging cfls all over place which is NOT what they are used for they are ideal for smaller contained grows.

Hi treetop, I get the impression you are in a hot country and buying and importing grow stuff over the web is not a good idea where you are.
LED's need mostly blue and red spectrum for growing with just a small amount of white. At the moment I'm watching a small cupboard grow (3 plant, auto's) with a 90w LED, it's looking good enough, maybe a bit slower than the 250w HPS.
I think you could work with the wardrobe idea pretty well using CFL's and a domestic kitchen extractor fan.
For the smell, if you got a large coffee tin, spiked loads of small holes in it and filled it with crushed charcoal then somehow piped the exhaust into it. I dont know it might do the job. Good luck
What a long strange trip it is.

Germination is quite personal, a lot of people like the paper-towel method as they can see if the bean has germed opposed to dropping straight into your medium, some beans are a lot harder to germinate which is why I soak mine for 24 hours then if I see the shell cracking they go into the grow medium and if not I'll put them in paper towels.

What autos did you get?

You might want to try some dryer softener sheets in your home made filter, I been told that a sheet in a old toilet paper tube will mask the oder from an exhale.
