I believe there are several stories about the origin. One was that it was a police code for "smoking in progress". Generally it refers to the time of day 20 past 4 - a good time to smoke a joint. There's more but I really do think the American members could explain better.

Yep, Bristol has produced some great music. Massive Attack, Portishead and Ronnie Size come to mind for starters. The only thing the city lacks now is a coffeeshop!

The pancake place you mention is called "Bredero" next door to "Rock Planet". I've been there many times.

I still occasionally go to Barney's although I agree it's not what it used to be. Paradox does a nice breakfast for veggies like us.
