I invite all and any to use this thread who wish to comment on a matter that, whilst arguably relevant to the weed topic in hand, is, strictly speaking, political or religious in nature (or anything else that could be called 'controversial). I think this could function as a rant space but also as a place for intelligent argument if people so wish. Whatever!

Controversy Corner - NB: Do not read if easily offended!
Ok, I've been guilty of it on here and others have been slagged off right royally for it: introducing political or other controversies into threads elsewhere on this forum intended for discussion of all things cannabis. I undertake that I will not do that again. Instead, if I feel the need I will post here instead and link the original thread to it for those that wish to read it.

The problem with these sorts of threads is they near enough always lead to people being nasty to each other and that just goes against Lemmings Golden Rule.

I have to agree with Boner.
There is no reason for a Coffeeshop Directory/cannabis forum to have a place for political discussion. There are plenty of political forums for those who wish to partake in such discussions.
As Boner said, it will nearly always lead to people being nasty to each other.
I do feel that moderators need to moderate (that's why they are moderators) when people introduce politics, the rules should be clear to all, and all messages that break the rule should be deleted.
Messages like the one Adamster wrote, are way more offensive and cause way more problems than the spam messages that are moderated/deleted.

Oh dear! I had the (clearly naive) idea that people might discuss stuff intelligently!

Boner - no argument from me if you wanna just delete this thread m8. I think it's somewhat disappointing that the 'Other' section should be censored but, hey, no worries if it is so!

Please explain what is unintelligent about my response?CannaSir wrote:Oh dear! I had the (clearly naive) idea that people might discuss stuff intelligently!
Go have a look at Channels Forum, you will see what happens when nothing is moderated and political discussions are allowed everywhere. Once upon a time it was also a cannabis/coffeeshop/Amsterdam related forum.
All it is now is a slanging match between nearly all it's members, very little left there that actually relates to cannabis, coffeeshops, or Amsterdam.

What's been censored? I never edit/delete anything, if I see something and think it's wrong I'll just say so, (if anyone is ever offended by something a poster writes let me know via pm and I'll have a word).

Are you volunteering to be Censor in Chief then. No intellectual discussion or difficult exchange of views was ever enhanced by suppression.Old Timer wrote:I have to agree with Boner.

Occasionally a thread kicks off but usually somebody throws a metaphorical bucket of cold water on it and it fizzles out.

Re: Controversy Corner - NB: Do not read if easily offended!
i think my recollection of historical matters is correct ...
a couple of years ago lemming did create a separate forum for arguments where members could create separate threads for different topics for full and frank discussions
it was the behaviour displayed in the threads of this forum that soon led lemming to remove the entire forum and all the threads
and then lemming's golden rule was brought to everyone's attention
in my view it is lemming's golden rule that enables this forum to be different and more civilised than other forums, it simply states that it is ok to respond to and challenge posters' ideas but it is not ok to attack posters themselves

So, in your opinion, how do Adamster's comments from the thread below fit into that?StonedSince'67 wrote:i think my recollection of historical matters is correct ...

Should they or should they not be allowed?

I'm all for freedom of speech and discussing what you want, but this is the one place I can come to that I laugh reading stories and enjoy the mellow vibe of the forum in general. I've been on forums where all that mad snarking, growling and bitching at each other is the norm but quite frankly its exhausting reading grown ass adults type a bunch of hateful shit at each other like they are still in middle school. Lack of drama keeps me coming back here.
Peace and pot
Edit:
I read the thread posted above and I gotta say I don't think that kind of shit belongs here. There is enough hate and ugliness in the world without inviting it here.

If we had a poll, I'm sure that most of us would agree that responses like Adamster's, have no place here, or anywhere else for that matter.2rollingstoned wrote: Edit:

Oh please! No one follows any sort of "golden rule" on here! Hahaha
Re: Controversy Corner - NB: Do not read if easily offended!
Just trying to keep the peace and yes I do have too much spare time but I dont really see what thats got to do with anything, like I mentioned earlier I dont edit, censor or delete anything anyone writes, at absolute worse I'll normally drop them a pm asking them for example "to bite their tongue for the sake of peace."dpgsoulja89 wrote:Have a word?are you the al capone of the coffeeshop directory?Boner wrote:What's been censored? Re: the Israel thread I only ever saw the first post, Adamster's a troll and people should just ignore him and if you have a problem get in touch with Lemming as he's the only person who should decide what to do, I can only 'moderate' the other section btw.
