Well, I still like Barney's. I'm an American tourist and this place caters to folks just like me. The place always seems crowded when I'm there and yes the prices just keep getting higher. A gram of temple ball was 10 euros back in November and during my last visit in March the price climbed to 12 euros.
I purchased a gram of temple ball "elsewhere" for 6 euros which I kid you not tasted like bong resin. Each visit sets me back $1000 to $1500 so the extra 6 euros to get premium temple ball isn't an issue. I threw away 6 euros on the cheap stuff rather than saved 6 euros.

Certainly the most popolar area of the city at the moment. Dealers is friendly & have good advice.
I try barney's ones in the morning around 8:000 AM & the man behind is not really friendly but in the afternoon never have the problem.
I bought Mekong Haze, Laugthin Buddha, Morning Glory, Amnesia Haze, Purple Haze, Caramelo Cream, Nepal Temple Ball...
all product was really good but expensive!!! 
So the area could be crowed sometimes. Didn't test their breakfast.

Before i went to Amsterdam (as per my post in the Baba's thread) i looked up good places to go and Barneys was highly recommended. Eager to get high as soon as our flight landed we went straight to barneys and weren't dissapointed 
Bought a pre rolled Laughing Buddha Reefer (without of course
) and it blew my socks off 
The dealer was a funny guy and british which was nice, the food was great too imo.
Always bought my smoke from here in the morning (even though my hotel was a fair walk from barneys). I ordered 3 grams of Amnesia Haze and the dealer cut a random piece off the buds, slung it on the scales & it weighed exactly 3 grams
, was a funny moment...

The Hash, Weed and the Food was excellent. The waitresses range from a lil stressed out to way too forgetful but they do their best and as a restaurant/Coffeeshop I'd say Barneys is a success.
Barney Rubble was the best Iceolater I had in the Dam and there was a fine selection of weed, but this was more of a "pick up and go" spot for me as the coffeeshop section was consistently crowded. The barstaff was very friendly, enthusiastic and helpful and they showed me the proper use of the vapo so I have no complaints there, but the waitresses were extremely pushy on the drinks and the place was somewhat high strung. The Brassery was similar, but I'm willing to tolerate that kind of "go-go-go" attitude in a restaurant and the food was pretty damn good. had a couple of breakfasts with no complaints and the Cajun Chicken at dinner was on point as well. Really nice to sit out on the terrasse and have a smoke before a meal as well. Had me wishing more coffeeshops had full kitchens. Definitely the best thing going for em.
Basically the quality is there, a slight improvement in the excecution would be nice but no real complaints. When the weed and food are so good. as for the " too many tourist" thing I guess that depends if you enjoy speaking to random english-speaking folks or not but I certainly did'nt mind.
Also, I arrived the hour they received HP13 (the G-13 Hash plant cross) and being first in line for the public sale of that one was a trip. Great weed.

This shop is a bitterly devisive issue amongst my jet-setting stoner cadre. I defend Barney's. Most of them hate it.

I say: "Well, it isn't perfect, but its BY FAR the best food of any coffeeshop. I mean what's your comparison? Compared to the finest restaurants of europe? Ok, it sucks. But none of the great restaurants of Europe let you pull fat B-ler with your steak."

I say: "You are right. But being able to start my day with steak, eggs, and some really nice Stella Blue pulled through a clean glass bong is worth an extra two euro. Besides--weed is twice as pricey in the US."
I just really like breakfast and really really like weed with it. The brekkie at the floyd is the only competition I know of.

Was there at the corner (Breakfast Bar). I ask the girl behind the bar (I think she was the waitress)if its possible to eat something,she didnt answear.After five minutes of sitting in front of the bar she brought us our drinks,I asked once again for the menu but she told me in a rude tone that the boy of the kitchen isnt there.
In fact of this we went to the coffeeshop and it was full of loudly tourist.

I give Barney's a thumbs up. I ate at the corner breakfast bar twice and visited the coffeeshop a few times as well. The breakfast was a bit pricey 10.5 euros for the Irish breakfast and the service could have been a bit "quicker", but that was par for every restaurant I visited during my trip. It wasn't the best food or service, but it was the best place I found that I could have a nice smoke while eating a good breakfast.
The coffeeshop was well worth a visit. It was very crowded whenever I went in, but I don't really mind chilling in a crowded place. The overwhelmiong majority of patrons there on my visits were British not American. The guy with the long hair that works the morning shift could have been a bit friendlier, but the guy who works the afternoon was ultra cool and very helpful. My wife and I bought some momentos there before we left the Dam and he threw in some freebies which was cool.
I was not too impressed with the Morning Glory and a bit disappointed in the Laughing Buddha, but the HP13 was really nice and the Hawaiian Haze was one of my favorite smokes of the trip.
It is definatley a place well worth visiting if you are a tourist or don't mind chillin out in a crowd, but I could see why locals or regular visitors of the Dam would shy away from hanging out there.

when i went i believe it was right around 10:00 when we got to Barneys and it was only about 75% full and then while we were there it filled up to 100% (all seats occupied and one or two people at the "bar" area. Then as we were leaving a group of four or 5 people were headin in....soooo i dunno probably fairly full all day.

I went there for breakfast at around 11:00-11:30 twice and didn't have a problem getting a seat. The coffeshop however was pretty packed at those times. That is a popular time for incomming flights and being a short walk from central station appearantly makes it a popular place for people just in town, suitcases and all to make a quick stop for a morning smoke.My flight will be getting in at 10:30am...i bet thats catching the end of rush hour, possibly?

First of all if your a tourist anywhere in the world your gonna get your fair amount of shit. It's just a fact of life that foreigners will be mean to you at times so while the staff at Barney's can be dicks at times is just par for the course. Just assume on everyone being a dick to you and when someone is nice you'll be surprised.
The food is good I think. A lot of people complain but if you can handle "diner" style food I think you 'll find the food pretty good. Anyway it's Europe, the foods just all around better anyway.
I went to Barney's late August 2004. I'm sure some stuff has changed but when I went there the weed was top notch. I see a lot of complaing about how Barney's has become to commercial. I think what makes a coffee shop commercial is when they begin to neglect the important things(quality of weed and coffee). Unless ALOT has changed since my last visit this is not the case. The Sweet Tooth could have been better but the Silver Blue was the best pot I ever smoked. There hash was great and I thought they had good coffee too. Are you saying there commercial because there crowded? Or the weed is worse? If not I would still rank this as my Number 1 shop right before Grey Area on my list.

I'm a big fan of Barney's but my usual Amsterdam partner has issues with it because of the many changes to the menu in just the past year.
In July 2004, they did an "American Breakfast", which included bacon, hash browns, scrambled eggs, something else and 3 pancakes for about €7.50. You could also order just side portions like onion rings, fries etc if you didn't want to spend that much or just weren't that hungry. Now, all side orders have gone, the American Breakfast has gone and it's equivalent is €9 without hash browns.. basically the menu seems to have been changed on an almost tri-yearly basis just to fleece more and more people.
I can see his problem there, but as others have said, where else are you going to get such a good breakfast AND a morning joint at the same place? Nowhere.
As far as the actual coffeeshop goes, I don't like it. Having to share your table with strangers doesn't interest me and you will almost invariably have to. However, if in Amsterdam, you have to pick up from here. May I recommend the incredible Helter Skelter hash. €25 a gram, has a wonderful focusing effect. Great to lift you out of that mashed feeling you can sometimes slip into after your 6th coffeeshop of the day. Sweet Tooth is also recommended.
