Abraxas to close today

Post by Wyndham »

We regret to inform you,
The mayor of Amsterdam Mr. van der Laan decided today that Abraxas should close its doors for an indefinite period of time from Tuesday 17th of February 2015 at 13:00hrs.
We will keep you informed on the current status of Abraxas.
Source

I get that Abraxas 2 closed because of the school rule, but why this one??

Apparently it's been closed due to its proximity to a school gym.

So, this is definitely the original then? But they've only just realised it's close to a school...well, a school gym

That I don't know. I was never a big visitor of Abraxas tbh. Only a buy n fly of amnesia which was very nice. Wish I'd gone back again now :(

I think there was only 2 shops so I'd guess it is the original that's been shut now?

went in once, asked if they had upstairs seating, they said no and I never returned. Too small IMHO.
Any shop closing is a sad day. Sounds like I missed out on a good one.

The original is still open I believe, the one by Dam Square, but is that the one you said closed? The other one, Abraxas II, closed on new years.

Everything points to the one near Dam Sq closing at 1pm today - they announced it on their facebook page yesterday (link in original post)

Due to a not so clever employee bringing in coke + mdma apparently.
By order of Mayor Van der Laan Tuesday coffeeshop Abraxas to Young Roelensteeg closed indefinitely.

During a routine inspection was a commercial quantity of hard drugs (cocaine and MDMA) was found in the coffee shop. "Hard drugs in public establishments has a very disruptive character," says the municipality. "Moreover, it is found at a coffee shop. Separation of hard and soft drugs is a core idea of the coffee shop policy. This dividing line is strictly and therefore any violation thereof is sanctioned. "

The property would be closed yesterday at the beginning of the afternoon, but the operator had applied for a preliminary injunction. This is later in the day rejected by the judge. Then proceeded to closure.

"Bland"
The floor manager of the coffee shop tells AT5 that the drug was found in an employee who worked there briefly, who stated that the drug was of herself. She was fired immediately. "It's really quite faint. They say that my staff should screen better, but I did and I can not search my staff. The case is made for about 25 years and there's never been such an incident. "

In about two weeks, come under the floor manager talks with the municipality which will be discussed if and when the case may open again.

Didnt like that shop , shitty spacecakes and unfriendly staff.
But BOY would I be PISSED at that employee, if I was the manager. CS licenses are near priceless.
I highly doubt, they will be allowed to reopen. I think they will use this case as an example.

FFS, how stupid can one person be? Especially a coffeeshop worker who should know better!
Fingers crossed they're allowed to re-open, but it's not likely after this :x

That's definitely a better reason than "we just realized there was a school gym nearby. You gotta close tomorrow. Kthnxbye." That really sucks, though. What a stupid, stupid employee. I have to wonder though; how did the cops find it? Do they usually pat down CS workers during an inspection?
