September 11 - 13 plus a surprise

Post by DaveExodus »

I tried to do this on a strict budget.
Cheaper isn't always better
but, is it?
2 nights at the flying pig was decent with flights included.
Under 400gbp

Thursday Night/Friday morning

UK Baby crying on the train to the airport

Window seat!
Flew out at about 1840, got there about 2055.
Waited in passport control for about an hour and a half, I didn't mind the wait but the smell of B.O was getting really heavy.
I got to the desk:
"What is the purpose of your visit?"
Rijks museum?
Passport stamped.

Got out at about half past 10, got ticket and caught train,

Dutch Baby crying on the train...

arrived at Amsterdam centraal for 2325.

First stop was Voyagers
I picked up some guavalato, it smelled nice, I saved it for later.
16 euro for a gram though, it better be worth it.
The guy recommended it

Then to coffeeshop central for some PH89, I rolled up and smoked it out the front.
Just as I did it began to rain real bad.
I waited for it to stop raining before going to find the hostel,
I chatted to some local people who were outside, also waiting for the rain to stop.

I went to check in to the hostel before it was too late, it was just past midnight.
I tried to unpack my essentials as quietly and quickly as I could.
In the room everything creaks.
The door hinges the locker, the pad lock,
trying not to wake anyone up.

At the bar I met some people who were doing shots of something, they invited me to do some with them, so I did just to be social.
It wasn't very strong, thankfully, as I don't drink much.
I think it was some cinnamon whiskey liquor type thing.
It wore off pretty quickly.

I wanted to try the guavalato, I went into the smoking area to roll up.
It's probably mostly indica, the bud structure was like that.
Dark green purple looking. Guava x gelato.
Heavy body effect and in the head, makes you sleepy and relaxed.

I went to bed as the people from the bar just decided to go out to a night club, this was about half 2 in the morning.
I was on a top bunk.
Comfortable, I manage to drift off.
Some guy was snoring real bad later though.
I have had to sleep in some weird places, this is luxury compared to my aunt's kitchen floor.

Friday
I woke up about half 7/ something like that.
I went downstairs just as the others from last night were coming back in.
I went to get some food and got In touch with JLH, he was down at club media,
I was about to go down that direction but we met back up to the hostel and went to Blackstar.

It's a nice place, good service, I got some SG Runts.
It's quite strong and sativa.
They have seating by the counter and seating downstairs, nice interior, modern.
When outside, it started to rain again.

Me and JLH went our separate ways, I was heading to the Rijks museum, had a walk around the streets.
I went to 420 for a coffee and a sit down later in the afternoon.
I had a look at the maps to plan my route around just to be sure I knew where I was going next.
Felt better.
Had some more SG runts.
Nice
I try get 2 large maybe 3 basic sized joints from a gram.

I use google maps and just follow the audio directions.
Works ok most of the time.
I want to try a bike next time, so I can get to more places quicker.

I ride a bike at home and I have always wanted to try the cycle routes in the Netherlands.
I like this guy's blog,
https://bicycledutch.wordpress.com/

I hadn't had hash for a while so I went to voyagers to get some of the gelato block.
If it's hash made from gelato the it's got to be ok, right?
It's nice and soft, real hash flavour and smell.
You can roll it into a sausage and put it in your spliff easy.
Combined with the guavalato, made it extra relaxing.

Later I went into 420.
Some older looking guys came in and sat next to me at the bar.

One of them Smoked a spliff, passed out and nearly fell off the stool.
Me and one of his friends had to grab him either side to stop him going over.
That was close.
He had one of them pre-rolled hash joints.
I don't think he had ever smoked before.
His friends seemed to be able to handle it.

Next time I am having a long tolerance break before I go,
so I can try and have a whitey in 420

He was the 4th person that day, the guy serving told me.
I had seen one go over in the corner earlier.
I have lost count at the number of people who have fallen over in 420.

Saturday
I had breakfast at the hostel and checked out.
Everything was good, it's a fun place to stay.
I think I may do it again.
I had a walk around, I wondered in a southern direction.
I stopped off at 420 on the way back to the train station,
to finish what I had left before heading to the Airport.
I had to get away before 1620

Italian Baby crying on the train to the airport

This is where the fun starts.

I go to check the departures board and look up my flight time.

Cancelled

My flight was cancelled?!
checked my emails and sure enough there was a message from EasyJet  :wtf: ,
telling me my flight had been cancelled.
After a small panic and a couple of failed attempts to get on the site due to my connection,
I found there were no flights that night.

I had to get the next flight, and the only one available was later at 1905 the next day
I tried to get the earlier flight which was about 1740 and the connection failed.

So then I wondered where the hell I was going to stay, then the easyjet site then directed me to choose a hotel at the airport for the night.
:o F**king hell.

I got a extra night,
free hotel, which wasn't so bad,
but that's how the budget went out the window a little.

They booked me into the Citizen at Schiphol.

This is mad,
because I stayed in there for a night the first time I was in the Netherlands, back in 2011.
14 years ago. It's weird thinking back, I only remember bit's of it.
I'm sure the space cake was stronger back then too.
Back then it was cheaper, at least I wasn't paying this time.

I get there and explain the situation, the guy was helpful, he showed me the system,
it's all self service, you programme your card yourself and everything.
I put my name in and like magic, I was checked in.
Easyjet were quick, 30 mins before I was having a bit of a anxiety attack.

It was like a cool futuristic room from a scifi movie but still it had a cosy feel.
I got my stuff out my bag, had a quick freshen up.

Then I had to work out what to do,
back to Amsterdam centraal?

....So I had to get a return train ticket.

I went back to Amsterdam centraal,
I found the trains ran through the night so I wasn't worried about stopping out late.
This is where I forget a few things.
I know I went to get something to eat and I when into Voyagers for a bit but I forgot what I had.
I think it was the guavalato again.

I was a bit lazy now, so I got a McDonalds.
I went to 420 later that evening.

"I thought you were going home?" The guy serving earlier was still on.

I had to explain about my flight, I got a coffee chilled out for a bit.
I checked the football, had a look on the news, just to see what was going on back home.
I wish I hadn't bothered.
I thought "at least I got a free night" (sort of)
It's ok in 420, sometimes people chat to you.
I met a few interesting people over the past few times.

Waited till it got a little dark and wondered towards Warmoestraat.
Baba's shop and Elements of nature on that street, I like checking them out.
I keep thinking I might try truffles one day.
It's funny walking around in the fresh air and suddenly you smell weed floating out of a coffeeshop.

It was later and I went back to centraal to get the train back to the airport.
I didn't feel like stopping out too late, since I had another day, I wanted to get the most out of it.

I must note here, that I am not very good at taking pictures, I just forget sometimes.
I have taken a few pictures on my last visits.

Sunday
****BONUS DAY****

I got up and had some breakfast at the hotel.
I still had some Guavalato from the night before

Easyjet did not include breakfast.
What do you think I am going to eat?! ffs
If I was paying for it I wanted to get my moneys worth.
Hotel was a bit of a blast from the past for me.
So the free hotel means, I had to pay city tax and get my own breakfast
checked out.
I went back into Amsterdam.
Super silver g13 is good for in the day.
I wanted to check out that Aluminium bridge area, I remember it was on the way towards the Rijks museum.
I walked around for a while, looking in the windows of the antiques shops.
The hand painted tiles and ceramics.

Walked down Warmoestraat
Loads of people dressed up as Smurfs behind me at one point.
Walking towards me was 5 Umpa Lumpas.
I swear to god I have not taken any truffles.

I think it was something to do with football?
Having a walk down towards Vondel park, looking at the time to get back I realised I had to get back to the Airport.

At least 2 hours before my flight because, I expected security was going to be crazy.
When when I got to the terminal it didn't read my passport :o .
Or my face?
I wasn't that high, surely?
I went to the guy at the desk, he said "it's no problem"
but the chip inside my passport may be broken. hmm

Got a stamp!

Lets try again.....
Go to find my gate, get stroop waffle to take home.

So long Amsterdam, I will back soon.

I get back home later that evening, it had been a bit of an adventure this time round.

Love it. Can't complain about a bonus 24 hours!
It's so easy to laugh, it's so easy to hate - it takes guts to be gentle and kind...

Voyagers is ok, they always have super silver g13, I tried a few times and the quality is variable.
I had the purple punch I think, back in March. That was good
They have nice hash.

Thanks, It was a good, bit of a rainy morning but the rest of the day turned out ok.
Blackstar was a nice place, I will visit there again.
That SG runtz was strong, they did have it as a sativa on the menu.

I got lucky with that bonus day.
I feel a bit spoiled
