Enjoyed this installment, Geeky, I like the way you have dialogue in your travellogues. Sad I never got to meet James. Keep up the good work

Re: Bookends- still telling stories with new PICS Sept/Oct 2
Thanks so much everyone! You have really made me feel a lot better
This time of year is a study in grey here. At least the rain has finally given way to snow.

The bad weather has me inside working though, so more stories soon. Wait until I tell you all about the crazy German who wanted to take me to a strip club.
@Vinyl, Slo, Geoff, ft, craig, Catt, Weed-o, Oldtimer, Snow, Vertical -Thanks for the nice words and encouragement. Also, it seems like commenting has picked up on other travelogues, so thanks for that too! It really makes me happy when this place is buzzing
@spireax- It's been cheese here lately too, so I bet it goes especially well. And thanks
@TC- Thanks, and can't wait to hear about your next trip! Say hi to the Mrs for me.
@FriendlyEdgar- I really hope our paths cross in June in Amsterdam! I really enjoyed your report. If your travels take you as far south as Switzerland, send me a pm, I make a terrible but very entertaining tour guide.
@deb- so glad to see you're still out there reading! Hope your business is taking off for you. Thanks so much for the praise, it means a lot. Whitman always seems to make me feel better when I miss the U.S. I think it's his language. Cool that he's from your neighborhood. Jeffrey Dahmer was the only famous person from my hometown.
@Lamont- Thanks, and I'm so excited to be headed out your way! With the prospects of prohibition looming for Amsterdam, Cali seems especially exciting.
@Strictly- I'm sure you're having a good time by now, and too high to read this. But have fun and smoke something good for me!
@hotdog- I think it's safe to say that it's all water far far under the bridge.
We'll have to share a fat one if our paths ever cross.
More reporting soon, my party peoples. Stay warm in the meantime.

Yes. Very well, too.Twichaldinho wrote:Just playing to yer insecurities. Ego tickled?
Sometimes our worst moments lead to some very decent gratification. C'est la vie.
Edited to Add-
It's no fair if Luvtick is the only one who ever gets tickled around here. Not that we don't all enjoy watching her, at least I totally do.

Great report geeky. I've just read all of this adventure while listening to your America mix. I like the couple songs that mention monkey's, nice touch.
Anyway, Keep up the great report, I'm looking forward to enjoying your next installment!

Unfortunately I don't think I'll be making it to Switzerland. I'll definitely be watching the travel plans page to see if you schedule a June trip! I'll have a local phone in 'dam, so if you're there we'll make sure our paths cross!

Great reports and anecdotes Geeky, keep on keepin'on!!!Thanks fr taking the time
Yr pictures are outstanding, you have a sharp eye and the focus is just perfect...
Errrrr, I am sadly reminiscing about the Golden Age of Henfshops in Switzerland...we didn't need that stupid cold, black and wet Amsterdam back in those days
!!!
The anecdote about water made me laugh out loud.Living in the Alps fr 20 yrs, I never buy or drink bottled water, always straight frm the tap, and that often turns into a "What the f*** is that" when I travel to any 'lowland' area
you never know what you got till it's gone!!!!

Re: Bookends- still telling stories with new PICS Sept/Oct 2
I've been crazy busy, so I'm going to go ahead and post and try to finish the rest of this part. I'll come back to catch up with everyone really soon. Thanks for all the love though, it's really making me feel like I don't look fat in these pants.

“I really like the glass bottles.”
“Aren’t they great? I use the larger size for milk.” A look of confusion crossed James’ face, and I was about to say more when he smiled.
“Ah, ja, from your cows up the hill. I use them for tea.”
“I’ll try to remember to bring you a pack of extra lids next time I come, because the bottles will last forever but the tops get gross. My husband laughed at me for using glass, but I just had to. There’s no point in bringing water all the way here in plastic.”
“Ja, it would ruin the taste.”
“Exactly.” I grinned. “Oh, I brought pictures of the cows to show you.” I pulled out my phone and opened up the slideshow I had put together with James in mind. After I passed the phone to him I re-lit my Cheese and Royal Hash joint, sad to note it was almost gone. The dense smoke gripped my lungs and rushed out in a cloud of skunk and warm spices. My already mellow mood sank into a deep relaxation.

James flipped through pictures, and I narrated, taking him on a virtual walk down from the dairy farm, then up the river into the heart of my city while we puffed away.
He flipped to the next image and grinned.

“You had pictures of this same thing the first time I met you.” James said, meeting my eyes and taking a deep hit of his joint, which was almost gone.
I searched my memory. August 2009, we had taken the night train to the city directly from Street Parade. A haze memory surfaced of sitting at the bar at the end of that trip, showing James the occasional shot on the viewfinder of my camera, while I puffed away on his Amnesia Haze.

“I did, ja.” I could see in James’ eyes that we were no longer alone in the shop. He passed the phone back to me and went behind the bar. Glancing over my shoulder, I could see that the sun was breaking through in places and the rain had passed for the moment. Another set of customers entered the shop as I gazed out at the canal.
I sighed, frustrated because I knew that the improved weather meant that business would pick up. My phone was still in my hand so I sent a quick text message to my husband while I began to contemplate my next joint.
